High hcg levels

Can any of you experienced ladies help me? I had my first beta today at 12dpiui and it came back at 147. Second beta is scheduled for Monday. I've been looking at the beta boards and my numbers seem a little high compared to what I've seen. I also looked at some of those HCG charts and noticed the same thing...Do you think it's possible that I could be pg with twins???? I was a little concerned because one of the charts mentioned something abnormally high hcg levels being linked to Downs Syndrome. Does anyone know about this? What qualifies as abnormally high??? I'm 37 and a little nervous about all of it.

Thanks,
Jenn

With my experience I would say you #'s are great. Maybe a little high but definitely not high enough to be alarmed about downs syndrome. Although I had IVF/ICSI done my beta at 10dp3dt was 84 and 12dp3dt was 204. I know with an IUI the embryo has a few more days before possible implantation than compared to an IVF where it normally implants within 2 days of a 3 day transfer. Keep that in consideration when viewing other numbers. Your beta depends on when the embryo implants as to how much of the hormone levels are in your body. That second beta will help a lot with the possibility of there being twins. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you. Good luck!

High HCG

Hi,
My HCG levels are high too and it looks like they are tripling every two days. I don't know if it's twins or not. I was also worried about Downs and did a little research. From what I read, it looks like normally the levels drop after the first trimester but they remain high in Downs. That is why they screen at arround 15 weeks. I could not find any table or chart that had early HCG levels that suggested Downs. I'm hoping high levels early don't mean anything if it's a singleton. Let me know if you find out anything more.

I guess mine were high due to a vanishing twin (or triplet?). I am currently 7w4d pg with a singleton, although there were two other sacs along the way -- one was very, very small and deemed inviable from the start. The second actually developed a yolk sac but nothing more, so I am proudly carrying one little bean now. If it's at all reassuring, my levels were also tripling every two days because I had originally carried more than one. Is there a chance you could have multiples?

multiples

Hi,
We have no twins in the family and used no drugs but I have a feeling it is twins. We are having a very early u/s tomorrow. I will be 4w6d but at least we should be able to tell if there is one or two sacs!

Good luck with you u/s! You should be able to see the sac(s) at that point, I think. I went for my first u/s at 5w3d and we saw one sac with a yolk sac and one very small sac that measured 4w3d. Be sure and post your results tomorrow!

I feel my beta numbers are high too 15dpo - 252 and 18dpo - 928. We had IUI so there is a chance it is twins and I am scared to death. I dn't get a u/s until april 27th.

Just wanted to drop in and say that my u/s is next week, but my RE thinks it will be twins or triplets just from the patients she has seen in the past..
We transfered 3 day 6 blast and I will post them based on dp transfer...
1st beta 174 8dp6dt
2nd beta 832 11dp6dt
3rd beta 13,663 18dp6dt
I hope that helps you. I really don't feel like I have extra pg symptoms because of the numbers being higher..
although, knock on wood my m/s just began a cpl of days ago..
Good Luck,
~Rhonda

Had my EARLY U/S today. We saw one small sac and a smaller fluid collection next to it. It is just too early to tell if it was a none developing twin, early twin or something else. I'll know more after my next U/S next Friday. I am happy we saw a sac at all that early. With my three previous m/c s we didn't see a sac until 5.5- 6 weeks and it was always off dates by a week or so. Keeping my fingers crossed....

I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience as me, or knows of anyone or anything..

I am currently 7wks 2 days PG YAYYYYY after 4 years of IF.
1st HCG: 59
2nd HCG: 65
3rd HCG: 156 *that was just this past thursday*

and now here I sit-- 7 weeks and knowing that number is wayy low... I had an ultra sound at 5wks gestational and they coudln't see anything---- she said it was probaably too early for me, and that's what my doc. said as well--- so i have another one booked for this wednesday- and that will be the TRUE result and answer..

I'm so scared- i dont sleep.. this is so unreal.

Does anyone think this will work out?? I had on and off bleeding for the first 2 weeks, and now i'm fine except my ovary pains-- but i have really bad PCOS and endometreosis and got pregnant GOD WILLING naturally this last cycle--- its insane..

anyways- thanks for listening-- any advice would be appreciated.

Rachael
