New here and just went through beta hell...

Hello everyone,

I am new here and wanted to say that messages in this forum have been enormously encouraging to me. I am an IVF veteran, unfortunately, with endo stage IV and male factor. This was our tenth attempt, (altogether six stym cycles, of which two cancelled and several FET), the sixth stym cycle, three embryos transferred, none left in the freezer. As always, fertilization rate and embryo quality were excellent and, for the very first time, I got a positive beta. Unfortunately, it was low, 24 at 13d post d3 transfer. Of course the doctor said immediately that this was not good and I was so glad when I found this forum, reading of so many cases where there had been an exception to the rule. Two days later my beta had dropped to 9, so I know it is over. Had my third test this morning, but just to put things to rest. What a cruel joke this is...

I don't need to tell you that I feel utterly miserable, but it is so good to know that there are others out there who are or have been in teh same situation. The fact that I have to go on with life as if all was normal is soo difficult!!

I am not really sure why biochemical pregnancies happen and if it is a positive sign or does not say much for the future. Has someone experience of getting pregnant (properly !!) after a biochemical pregnancy? I would appreciate any encourageing thoughts.

Many many thanks to all of you out there. AND good luck (!!) to all who are still trying or at this time are praying for good results!!

Lausanne, I am so sorry for all that you have been through. I too had a chemical and the hope and dreams last way to short only to have your heart broken again. I have since discovered that I have immune issues that kill of the embryo. I just wanted to ask you if you have had any of this testing? My doctor had a woman that had seventeen IVF's and all of them failed. She came to him and got treatment and had two successful pregnancies after that. Sometimes we get focused on just one issue that we forget that there are possibly other things that are overlooked. I wish you the very best and hope that one day your dreams come true. Good luck......JAS

Jas,

many thanks for your message! I have not had any immune issues investigated. Have read much about it, but am very insecure. My own doctor does not think much of it and I know this approach is quite controversial. I have looked at Dr. Beer's website. He is obviously convinced, but why is it not accepted? It is really difficult to check this out and of course all the terminology is incomprehensible for me. Would very much like to hear that it really worked for someone, but wonder if the info on Doctors' web-pages can be trusted. If you have any further comments, I'd really appreciate them.

Many many thanks, once again!!

Please Lausanne, Don't let the fact that your doctor doesn't put much stock in it deter you. There are alot of us that have wasted years trying to get pregnant because our doctors didn't believe in it. My good friend has had three children now because she got treatment. She waited fifteen years. She like you had good embryos and many failed IVF's and she thought she would never have her own. This can happen so early in pregnancy that you can lose it before you even miss a pregnancy. I am not an expert but if you go to the immune board under infertility and ask Lauren2005 or Tabithalyn they know so much and can point you in the right direction. Please ask them. They are under treatment with Dr.Beer. I thought that I could never get pregnant but it turns out that my body just killled it before I missed a period. Don't waste any more time and money untill you get this tested. It could be the answer and if it is not then you have done all you can. Hope that helps, JAS
