Beta drop..

Hi ladies..I'm a newbie, thanks for all the great information.

I am the IM, using a wonderful and caring GS. We had our first beta done at 11dp3dt =84, then 13dp3dt it went down to 75. They want to retest on Monday to see if it has gone up, she took a hpt this morning and it was still a dark line...has this happened to anyone, and what was the outcome?

Thanks for all the replies.

Suzanne

Suzanne - unfortunately when a beta decreasing it isnt a positive sign. You want your betas doubling within a 48-72 hours for a thriving viable pregnancy.
Two thoughts - One would be possible two implanted (I assume u did IVF) and one isnt thriving and the other is still ok. That is the best possible I can think of besides obvious stuff like lab error or things of that nature (which have happened).
Normally if it is truley just decreasing your next one could very well go up a litte and come back down which usually indicates a chemical pregnancy. If it goes up and up an up then the baby is thriving and body is building properly.

Those were my thoughts Im hoping for the best for your little bean!

Hi Suzanne,
Please dont give up hope yet. There could have been a lab mistake or a multiple pg that is now a singleton. Wait for the beta on monday and then see what the re says.
Good luck

Cassie

Thanks for Cassie and MamaRitz...I am trying to hold on with lots of prayers! This was our first transfer and they were (2) grade 1 8 cell, the drs. said they were perfect..I guess that is why I am so stunned that there be a problem. We do have 2 frozen that are grade 2 (6 cell & 4 cell), that we will try if needed...do you think that our first beta (84) was high for twins? It was done at 11dp3dt.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Suzanne

I agree with the others: falling beta is not a good sign. But, as they say, its not over 'til its over. Vanishing twin syndrome could be the cause of a falling beta.

You should also remember that, even when everything goes perfectly, there is still only about a 50% chance of success. We just don't have human reproductive physiology entirely figured out yet.

All you can do now is wait and hope for a nice big increase next time.

That's wonderful, Suzanne! I am so very happy for all of you.

We would love it if you felt comfortable joining us on the Surrogacy BB here at FT. We have many surrogates there as well as IMs.

Hugs,
