Home from 1st u/s! (double post)

Well, after all the beta worry, I'm home from the first u/s, completely with take-home photo of the 1 gestational sac! Pretty cool! I'm measuring a few days behind where I am (counting from my last period), which the Dr was entirely unconcerned about. She THOUGHT she might've seen a heartbeat, but couldn't really tell as it's too early. (I'm just 5w4d today.) So we'll have to wait until next week for that! I told her that I was worried she was going to tell me it was ectopic because of my lower betas (even though they doubled every 48 hours), and she said "Nope, I can tell you for sure, it's definitely not ectopic." Now I just have to worry about the viability - because after all, I have to worry about SOMEthing!

A quick question: Does anyone know if the gestational sac is only supposed to be perfectly round? I know the yolk sac needs to be - can mean not such good things if it's not - but what about the gestational sac itself? Anyone know?

Next u/s is next Monday I think. I'm hoping they don't make me wait until next Thursday!

Thanks for bearing with me through beta hell!

Samantha

Hi,
I'm not sure about the shape of the gestational sac but I wanted to tell you that I had an u/s at 5W2D and only saw the gestational and yolk sac so it sounds like you are right on track!

Hey!
Glad to hear your ultrasound, I am so excited for you.
If you want to see normal pictures go to
Advancedfertility.com and search ultrasound, they have pictures from 5 weeks and up.
I find out tomorrow my fourth beta and when they are going to do ultrasound too.
I was thinking the other day when does the worry end. And I figured never, even after they are hopefully born!

Thanks guys! The nurse said yesterday that the shape wasn't an issue, they're often not completely and perfectly round (and thanks catpaws - I looked at the images on that site and they're not all round either). And, I found out on the phone that I misunderstood the Dr originally, I'm only measuring 1 day behind, not a few.
Next hurdle: seeing the heartbeat on Monday. Boy oh boy, it's really true that the worry doesn't stop. You just jump from one new thing to the next!
