slow rising betas - still saw an embie!

I posted last week re my slow rising betas 468, 781, 941, 1480. I was convinced we'd see nothing at our u/s today. Much to our delight, we saw the little embie and yolk sack!

Thank you for all of your prayers and good wishes. Now I'm praying for a heartbeat next week. I was under the impression we wouldn't see a heartbeat until 10 weeks but my RE said we should see something next week at a little over 7 weeks. Anyone know how this works?

Thanks again!!

Genie!!!!

What wonderful news!!!! I am so happy for you. I hope next week with the sight of that little h/b you get to begin to relax a little!

I hope that I get to post good news after our u/s on Thursday too! It's encouraging to see someone else with slow rising betas have success!

Allison

Genie,

That is terrific news! As I've posted before I am slow-rising-beta success story (fingers crossed, so far!) Yes, your RE is right, a h/b should be detected between weeks 7-8. Once you see that you will truly breathe a sigh of relief.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Genie, I cannot wait to hear your results. I too had that happen to me after IVF for a couple I was helping (I'm a surrogate). The sad thing is the RE that was monitoring me feared ectopic and chose to give me methotrexate before seeing anything in my uterus or tubes. I went to my OB/GYN and they saw something in my uterus but of course because of the methotrexate it was not viable. By then my numbers had started doubling again. I am just devestated at the thought of what happened. I guess we will never know but in my heart of hearts I do. We are trying again in August and I can assure you I will not do ANYTHING until I see something on an u/s. Good luck!! Your story is very inspiring!

Angels--

That was horribly irresponsible of the RE!! I am so sorry for your loss and the couple's loss. At my first u/s (5w1d) the RE drew blood for a beta and the mtx labs (to see if my liver could handle the drug) and a sac was thankfully seen. I cannot believe they gave you mtx w/out another beta and u/s! Good luck in August.
