Help! Most people I read about that are concerned with betas have doubling and/or high betas but then don't see anything on their ultrasound. I had the opposite. My betas went like this
12dpo 25 15dpo 48 (dr. was not feeling good about this and expected the worst) 19 dpo 218 22 dpo 618 26 dpo did an ultrasound and saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac! RE said 86% chance of viable pregnancy and expected to see heartbeat in a week. However when the blood tests came in that afternoon hcg was only 986! Was so concerned I paged the RE to hear his thoughts. He said the ultrasound is a better indicator of what is going on but wants me to come back on thurs. for another u/s. Is there still hope? How could I have had such a low hcg and still see everything?

I don't really know the answer to why your HCG level is low, but if you're seeing a sac and a yolk, you're definitely on the right track!! I hope that your u/s on Thurs. goes well!!
I'll be praying for ya! Jen

I see you are in "beta hell". I will share my experience with you:
13dpiui--117 15dpiui--195 (acceptable, but low enough to warrant yet another beta...) 19dpiui--368 (RE concerned, tells me "around 50% viability; prob. ectopic or impending m/c) 22dpiui--u/s shows a sac--in the uterus! And beta was 1261! (RE gives some hope) 25dpiui--u/s shows larger sac/yolk/pole And beta was 3232! 29dpiui (6w1d) u/s shows h/b!!! No beta necessary. All these days/#'s are commited to my memory b/c they scared me so much and I spent 2 weeks either hysterical crying or just in terror. If I had been given one beta to confirm pg, then a sono at 6-7w, I would have been fine, happy, and content. U/S tells so much more than betas. Count on those for your info. Good luck, and I hope you have a happy ending! Kathy 32w0d--taking it one day at a time EDD 7/6/05 IT'S A BOY! |
