Feeling Discouraged

I am feeling so discouraged today. I just needed the opportunity to express myself so forgive me if I run on.

I received my beta #s back today. Since this was a natural conception (by fluke & my 1st), I believe I am 35dpo. My prog. is 48.7 but my betas are only 15,074. They only went up 2,017 from 3 days ago. I guess I do not understand why my prog is doing so well (I'm on Prometrium orally) but my betas are not rising well at all. The RE does not want to take any other course of action but he is not seeing a good outcome. I know your doubling time takes longer but I have not come across any site that can tell me what my #s should be this late. And based on this last draw, my numbers would take 347 hours to double. That cannot be good.

I do not go in for another u/s until 5/12 (8w 3d) and I don't know if I can make it until then. I am fighting every urge to cry and be angry and hold on to any glimmer of hope.

If any of you have experienced or know of an experience of a positive pg with very low betas, please share.

Felicia

I don't think your numbers are as low as you think they are. The higher the HCG levels get, the longer the doubling time. I don't know what they should be at your stage but I do know that the numbers vary immensly from person to person. What did you see when you had your last u/s? Do you think you could talk your doctor into moving your u/s up a few days just for peace of mind? I had an u/s at 5W and saw the yolk sac and another at 8W and saw the heartbeat. Also, I have heard of people with low betas having a successful outcome. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thank you so much Genevieve.

I had an u/s at 6w3d and she said she could only see the sac and it measured at 5w3d. Of course my immediate thought was that it had stopped growing at 5w3d and that is why my numbers are not going up very well. My next u/s (5/12) will be 8w3d. However, since this was a natural conception, who knows when I actually conceived. Maybe I am off by a few days but my numbers still are not doing what they should.

When I showed my OB the u/s she said she could see the yolk too. So I feel like I am on a rollercoaster. But, I only have 8 days to go to see what is going on. I did ask to have the u/s moved up but they wanted to wait until the 5/12.

Thank you for your prayer....It is much needed.

I'm sorry you have to wait so long for some answers. I had to wait 3 weeks between seeing the yolk sac and the heartbeat and it was awful. It sounds like you very well could have ovulated later than you thought, in which case the baby would be fine. Please keep me posted.
