Question Need opinions! Slow rising betas!!!

Hi everyone, I'm new here, and quite worried. My betas aren't rising as they should. The saving grace is that they started off high. That's the one bit of hope that is keeping me going. I had an IUI on April 8th, and had 4 known good follies. Here are the details:

14DPO: 574
18DPO: 1397 (62.3hr doubling time)
20DPO: 2041 (87.8hr doubling time)

So what do you all think? Is there hope for me and this little one?

Thank you much in advance,
Narry

Narry,

I think your levels look great! In fact, they are high...think you might be having more than one? Who knows! But, if the dr doesn't say anything, and everything is going okay, I'd say you are just fine. It's hard not to worry, but your levels don't always double, and they will start to slow down after a while (not sure when that happens). If you try to calculate them every time, you will drive yourself nuts!

Good luck to you!

Hi Samantha!

Thank you for your feedback!! I guess all of the years of loss and infertility has got me paranoid. Every little sign that something might be wrong gets me thinking the worst. I have an ultrasound on Tueday, I will be 5wks 4days, I hope it tells us something remotely good.

It looks like your numbers are good! Congratulations to you!!

Thanks again!

Hi,
Your levels look fine to me. Once they reach 1200 the doubling time slows down by at least 24 hours. Basically, the higher they get, the slower the doubling time. My levles did the same thing and I am 28 weeks pg.

Thank you Genevieve! I love your name, by the way! You definitely gave me more hope. Tuesday just can't come fast enough! I hadn't read much promising news on the net (infact, some was quite bleak) so I wanted to get some opinions from real life people.

Taking a deep breath...

Narry,

I seem to be having the same problem. Here are my stats by estimated DPOs:

14 DPO - 212
17 DPO - 524 (34 Prog)
25 DPO - 4,179 (42.6 Prog)
29 DPO - 8,736 (55.6 Prog)
32 DPO - 13,057 (39.8 Prog) (4/29)

I had an u/s on 4/28 and they only saw a sac. I am also very worried but everyone keeps saying that they take longer to double the higher they get. Since this was a natural conception (for the 1st time ever), there is not a definate date of conception.

Please let me know how you are doing. I am holding on to all hope for us and will keep you in my prayers...

NYLadyFM ~ Congratulations on your 1st natural pregnancy! Sorry that you are in the same boat that I am. Yes, people are telling me the same thing. About how far along were you when you had your US? What kind of outlook is your doctor giving you?

I'll definitely keep you posted, and I'm anxious to see how you are doing too.

Thank you Narry,

Since date of last AF was 3/14/05, I had u/s on 31dpo (6w3d). The tech says the size is 5w3d. The 7 day difference worries me of course. But since it was a natural conception, who knows.

I did find a site that someone else listed that is VERY encouraging. Please check it out. It does explain how the higher the #'s get the longer it takes to multiply (even pass 96 hours). It also gives the % for healthy pgs based on the initial #'s.

My Ob it obtimistic. She said it is too early still and my heartbeat should definitely show in week 8 (second u/s 5/12). My FE does not seem to be worried but nothing is more reassuring than positive results that I can see and feel......

Once again, my prayers are with us both

Hey Guys.. glad I was reading through this post!!! You have both given me hope.... I have been thinking for the past few days that I have a pending miscariage.......... my last two betas were 3500 and then 5558 not quite 48 hours later....i have had one successfull pregnancy and then all of a sudden whoosh.. three miscarriages...... I conceived "naturally" so again the actuall conception date is ??? but my 6 week ultrasound looked "normal"... going for another beta tomorrow and organising an 8 week ultrasound....
I have no spotting or cramping......... just the thought of betas not doubling the last time around..........
Keep posting your results!
Thanks

Sorry that I forgot to post my results.

Despite my betas not rising as they should, I am currently 10w2d pregnant. They were able to find the yolk sac at the 5wk ultrasound, and we saw a at the 6wk US. At the 8wk ultrasound, the baby continues to grow as he/she should, still with a good . So in summary, things continue to look promising, despite the slow rising betas. My next US is on June 14th, as part of the early downs & trisomy 18 screen, so I have my fingers crossed for this test.

Gillian ~ Good luck with your next beta. Sorry to hear about your recent string of miscarriages! That really sucks!! I'm not sure why they are continuing to do them if you are far enough along to get US done, but I'm not a doc, so what do I know? I am under the impression that the US is a lot more indicative of how well the pregnancy is going. Have you seen the yet? I hear that your miscarriage chance drops to around 5% once you see/hear the heartbeat. Yes, please keep us updated on how you are doing!
