Need help
Hello ladies...
I need some advice.. I recevied a beta # today. It was 1553. Now the background: I am cd40, LMP 2/19 (approx 5w4d) This was a complete surprise! I suffer(ed) from Unexplained IF and had 3 failed iui's, 1 m/c IVF (blighted ovum), and my 2nd IVF resulted in my 28 mo old DS. I had a cone biopsy in Dec 04' b/c my Paps for the past few years had been normal then abnormal and they'd flip flop every time. I looked at my beta #'s from my ds's ivf & I am trying to gage whether this is a good # or not. With DS: 15dp3dt 103 18dp3dt 389 21dp3dt 1623 would this # be comparable to my 3rd beta? I'm lost and floored ![]() any help would be appreciated !

hi tara....
please try not to make yourself crazy with your beta numbers. i have seen scenarios here (at FT's) over and over where the beta numbers fall outside the "averages" you can find all over the net, and they turned out to be perfectly fine. i've also seen beta numbers not double when they should and also turn out just fine. i did a little research for you, and will enclose a link for you. i'm not sure exactly what day you did your transfer on, so i don't really know what dp3dt cd 40 is for you. but after looking at the beta numbers you supplied form your pg with your ds, your new beta doesn't seem to be too far outside those calculations. also, the beta numbers from your ds are a perfect example. the numbers provided (in the link i'm enclosing) will inidcate that technically the numbers with your pg from ds fell outside the "avg" range. they were somewhat lower. so you have living proof that you can fall outside that range and still have a perfectly normal pg and healthy baby. hopefully your next beta will ease your mind somewhat. best wishes! http://www.ivfer.com/hcg.htm

Do you have any idea of when you ovulated? If you do, that would help... otherwise, if your last period was Feb 19.. then add 14 days for average conception time... and that would put your conception around March 4. So that makes you around 26 days past conception (or 26 days past egg retrieval if you had done IVF).
SO... with the numbers you gave with your ds... the 21dp3dt is really 24 days past retrieval... so your numbers are in the same ballpark I would guess. I think your best bet would be to get another beta in a two days or so and make sure that your numbers now are doubling appropriately. Congrats! What a wonderful surprise!!!

Thanks ladies.
no medical intervention on this one, just good ole bms... O'd some time between the 6th & 9th & had BMS the 7th & 12th ( i chart elsewhere so I have a record of this info) I am not putting too much into the #'s until i get more of them. I guess my concern is another blighted ovum or m/c.. i'll relax a little....... Thank you again !

I think that number sounds great, even more so when you go by your ovulation instead of lmp. VERY exciting! I love hearing stories of suprises after IVF. Congrats!!
