Prayers Needed!

Hi Girls...well I just had my 3rd beta...not looking good at all!

1st beta 14dpiui...106
2nd beta 16dpiui...164
3rd beta 23dpiui...806

My RE's nurse called to give me the news and even she sounded very discouraged. I am scheduled to go in for an ultrasound on Monday to see if it's an ectopic pregnancy. Please keep me in your prayers that this is just a slow starter. Maybe I'm foolishly hanging on to hope, but I just can't throw in the towel just yet. Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers! Hugs to everyone!

Beth, its not silly to still have hope. You need to hang on to that hope. I have said many times that i dont like or trust beta numbers. You are pg, so dont stress. The u/s monday will give you some answers. You will stay in my prayers. We are all here for you hon.

Beth beta

Beth, I agree wait for the ultra sound. I really think this whole hcg thing is just another thing that we don't need to worry about. I feel your agony I am going through it too.

I am waiting for my day 18 - numbers....so frustrating.

I thought I'd share my beta numbers because my first beta (last Friday) was so low it didn't even register as a pregnancy. I tested at 18 dpiui and it was 14!!! The nurse told me that I should expect a period any day. I was so depressed, so depressed, you can't imagine (well, some people probably can). They wanted to do a followup yesterday (22 dpiui) because I hadn't gotten my period yet. Well, it was 91! It's supposed to double every two days and yep, it looks real good right now. Even the nurse seemed surprised!

I'm going in next Tuesday for my third and I'm hoping and praying it continues to rise appropriately. I haven't seen anyone on the web report a beta of 14 at 18 dpiui, but apparently it happened to me. I feel like I've risen from the dead.

Please let me know if anyone's heard of such a low beta turning into a healthy baby. I'm curious.

beta numbers

LH...that is great. I would be pretty happy if I were you. Everywhere that I read it doesn't matter what the number is as long as it is doubling 48 to 72 hours. My numbers were 62 - 14dpivr, 74 - 16dpivr, 129 - 18dpifr, and 335 - 21dpiv. I am going for my Ultra sound on Monday.

I was freaking out about the beta numbers. Now, I just want monday to come so I can know for sure that my baby is growing.

Good luck to you. I think that this is so stressful and I understand you worrying about the numbers. It's only natural. From what I hear the u/s is what matters the most.

Take care,
Stacy

Hi Girls...Just wanted to let you know that I am hoping and praying and keeping fingers and toes crossed for you that your betas keep going up and that you have happy healthy pregnancies! These beta numbers can drive you completely insane. I think it's worse than the 2ww. I told my RE that when we do our next IUI hopefully in Sept that I do not even want to know what my betas are, and I don't want to have them checked as often. It's just too torturous and makes it very difficult to enjoy what should be one of the happiest times in our lives. I'm thinking I'll just check my betas to confirm the pregnancy then go back in a week to check them again. Then wait for an ultrasound. I just can't take the beta hell for another cycle. And I pray that you girls get through this and that your babies are happy and healthy! Hugs and prayers to all of you!

Hi Beth,

Best of luck with your September cycle! I had my betas checked every week and it was tough waiting a week! I was hoping that they'd do them every couple of days. Either way, it's very stressful. I had my last beta yesterday. They were:

13dpiui - 157
21dpiui - 3000
28dpiui - 23,600

I was hoping that the last one would've been higher, like 36,000, but my nurse said that it was fine. See? I'm never satisfied! My u/s is on the 27th. I'm already stressing about that! I keep wondering...at what point do I get to relax and enjoy this? I had a problem with progesterone early on. at 13dpiui it was 18.8, then dropped to 10 at 21dpiui. They gave me the suppositories 2x/day and yesterday progesterone was 20. I hope that that's high enough. The nurse said that it was.

All the best to you!
Athena

Thanks for the good pregnancy wishes Stacy. It's so nice to know someone else understands what you're going through. It's funny how many women have happy, joyful, uneventful pregnancies. I'm glad for them. For the women who have fought tooth and nail to conceive and carry a healthy pregnancy, I have so much respect.

I didn't even know there was such a place as Beta hell until just recently. It must be near Limbo. I keep thinking this next Beta will alleviate my fears and I'll be able to start to relax and enjoy this pregnancy, but there will always be some milestone to overcome in this pregnancy until I'm actually holding the little guy in my arms.

And then, I'll worrry about accidentally killing it! There's this scene in Sex and the City where Steve doesn't want to take the new baby for an overnight because he's afraid of accidentally killing him. Miranda says to Steve, "Okay, so we're both afraid of killing the baby - that's a given, but Monday through Friday I try not to kill him and Saturday and Sunday you try not to kill him."

I'm praying that everyone's Beta numbers are perfect for their pregnancies and that they don't stress too much about them. You guys are right, we shouldn't obsess about them so much.

I'm gonna try really hard and trust that my body is doing what it's supposed to do.
