Estradial measured in addition to Beta?

I'm stuggling with an issue and my RE and OBGYN are not on the same page (I went to them separately).

QUESTION: Is estrogen supplementation necessary after a positive beta?
Are/were you all measured for estrogen when you got your betas? IF so, was there an estradial # your Dr. wanted to see? Does your Dr. supplement with estrogen, and if so, why and for how long?

After many years, countless IVFs, IUIs after cancelled IVFs, etc, our new RE suggested surrogacy was our best best for success since I've had multiple invasive surgeries for fibroids that have left adhesions and caused the removal of one tube and lef the other one with poor quality. So, after giving up, we were shocked by a pregnancy on our own. I got my fist beta last thursday and I still don't believe it.

Everything looks fine but the RE thinks my estrogen is too low (Wants it above 500) and they want to supplement it. They do this for their IVF patients. I can't find an answer for what the levels should be for non-IVF patients. I'd rather not feed the fibroids on extra un-necessary estrogen.

3/17: 11/12dpo beta = 129, prog = 52.1 (Lab1)
3/19: 13/14dpo beta = 427, prog = 42, Estrogen = 264
3/21: 15/16dpo, beta = 1654, prog = 49, estrogen = 277
3/23: 17/18dpo, beta = 3612, prog = 38.7, estrogen = 269

IS my estrogen too low?

Thanks,
Gem

Gem-
Congratulations on your BFP! That's awesome!! As for estrogen support, they use this on FET patients all the time. I started on estrogen patches 19 days before transfer and was still on them several weeks after my BFP (unforunately I'm waiting to m/c due to blighted ovum, so they took me off about 3 weeks ago). I don't think that estrogen support can hurt! But I don't know anything about what normal levels are. Sorry I can't help more.

Sherrie-
Cute picture you've got posted there! New, huh?? I hope all is well... tomorrow morning I finally get to induce my m/c. I can't believe it's gone on this long....... can't wait for closure!!!

Hi Gem --

Congrats on the pregnancy.

Although I did do IVF, my RE wants estrogen above 250 and prog over 20 on any pregnancy. Even though at my last check my prog was 95.8 and estrogen was at 1718 (that was at 7weeks on Wednesday), I need to continue with the supplements until 12 weeks.

My RE would say your numbers look good!!

Good luck with your pregnancy!!

Hi Madeline's mom,

Thank you, thank you for letting me know your RE likes the estrogen above 250 for ANY pregnancy. I read that right, right? Not just for IVF pregnancies? You RE is the first one that at least considers both options. My E2 is just over that. Odd how my RE wants it over 500. Again, if I had done IVF, I would not argue but since this was a surprise between cycles, I'm not sure. Everything on meds is super amplified.

Did the RE explain the role of the estrogen in detail after the beta and through 12 weeks? I get that we need some but is more better and in what way?

Hi Sherrie--

I am so sorry about your m/c in February. This can be so hard trying to get to the next milestone.
Thank you for checking in. I'm still a nervous wreck and I did not start taking the supplements yet. I need more data but at least Madeline's mom's RE gave me some info that makes me feel maybe I don't need it. And I agree with Jen- Cute picture!!!

Jen

I am so sorry you are going through a m/c. What a heartbreaking situation.

I started some very, very light spotting yesterday (brown) and I'm not sure what to make of it and what should be normal 1 week after AF should have arrived. Ugh.

Gem, I am in my 2ww , but My RE has you come in 1 week after transfer..(FET) and hedraws for e2 andp4, they then call you with the results laster that day and tell you if they need to add anything...Mine was...e2 was 418 7dpt and p4 was 19. The nurse said it looked good and RE was happy with those numbers..no changes in my meds.
I still am notsure if they are good or ok...I dont know if they can be indicative of pregnancy or not...I wont know until beta day which is Monday.
I am on pio shots every other day and crinone supps every other day, I take 4 mg of estradial and 2 patches for 7 days each.
Hope this helps..
