Question very low beta count after IVF

Ladies:
I'm very new to this board. I thought I could do this without any support but I seem to be very wrong.
I went thru my first IV txment with the transfer being 2/12. Today I went to the dr for my blood test and it came back with a Beta number of 14. The nurse said they don't consider a pregnancy until the numbers are at 20, but she did say that the hcg hormone was in my system and therefore, pregnant.
I go back on Wednesday to see if the numbers have doubled. I've checked this board, and although I see low numbers in the beginning...none have been this low.
I did have some minor spotting on Sunday night, the night before my "positive test". Anyone have low numbers and still have a normal pregnancy? I figured that I would have a definite answer today but it seems as if I'm still hanging out there....at least until Wednesday.

I have heard of numbers as low as 6 leading to a successful pregnancy, especially with IVF. Good luck to you.

Barge - just wanted to give a little encouragement. A very good friend of mine's first beta was 5.5 and her second, two days later, was 11. I'm not sure on what days those tests were taken, but she ended up with twin girls. So, you can end up with a healthy pregnancy even when you start out with low numbers.

thanks ladies for the words of encouragement and the website..that's a pretty cool site.

Today I my Beta was 24, which is a bit higher, but still not satisfying the dr. Back on Monday for #3.
