New here and in Beta hell , please help(+ HPT mentioned)
Hi Ladies,
I am brand new here, although this is actually my third cycle. I am hoping that someone can tell me what is going on! OK, so here is my situation. I had 2 five day blasts transferred on Sunday, Feb 6. On the following Sunday, the 13th, I was really bad and took a HPT, which of course came back negative. I was spoting and just wanted to know, but no help. So then on Wednesday the 16th I took another HPT and this time it was positive, so of course I was really excited and figured that this cycle was a success. Then the following day I started bleeding, not just a little, but really heavily. So, when I went into the hospital the following day for my blood pregnancy test I expected it to come back negative. It came back 64, which was low so we figured chemical pregnancy. They had me come back in 2 days later, which was yesterday, just to make sure my nubers were falling. Well, yesterday my beta was 65. Ok, so it if was doubling nicely I would assume that meant I was pregnant, and if it were falling I would figure chemical pregnancy, but I have no idea what to think with these numbers. I am killing myself trying to figure out what this could mean. Could it be an ectopic? Any input at all would be great. I have to go in tomorrow for more tests, but I have no idea exactly what tests as my husband talked to the nurse and did not ask any questions at all. I wish he would have at least gotten me to talk to her. Sorry for such a LONG post. I am going crazy here! Thanks in advance! Wendy Good luck to everyone going through this or some other infertility issue right now. Lots of warm thoughts and baby dust!

Wendy,
If you look at my signature below, you'll see that I've been in Beta Hell for 11 days now. My first beta was 78, then dropped to 75 and then 54. I was told it was chemical. The next day it went up to 61.8, 91, 207, 390 and as of yesterday 565!!!! My RE did an ultrasound yesterday and did not see a sac, but I believe it was too early! He also didn't see anything in the tubes, so I'm praying it's not ectopic!! Being that your level stayed pretty much flat, maybe there's hope that you had a vanishing twin? That's what I think happened to me. Where 2 or 3 in my case implanted, and then didn't hold, which shook up the beta levels! But hopefully in both of our cases, at least one of them is still holding on! I truly hope that the numbers will start to go up and that you'll see some sort of miracle! I'm having my 9th beta and 2nd u/s tomorrow. I know how you feel and I'll be praying for you tomorrow!!! ![]() Jen

Jen - Wow, it sounds like your situation has really turned around quite a bit. Talk about beta hell. Still, it does sound like things are looking very positive right now. I think it would definitely be too early to see a sac yet. I have a very good feeling that this cycle is going to work out beautifully for you. You will have to ground your baby after it is born for giving you such a scare in the beginning!
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I definitelyfeel much better. In fact, I am even feeling a bit....*gasp*...hopeful! Sending baby dust your way, Wendy |

Well, I went in to have my blood work again thi smorning and now I am just waiting ot hear. It seems like they tested for some really weird things. They did a blood pregnancy test of course, but they are also doing a blood type tesy and some kidney test. Plus, they did not test for progesterone, which I totally expected them to test for. I am just second guessing myself at this point I know. Hopefully I will hear soon and will have a better idea of what is going on!
Good luck with your ultrasound and beta this morning! Let me know as soon as you know anything. Wendy |

Hi Wendy,
I'm praying that your beta went up nicely today!!! As for me, I went in for 2nd u/s and my RE saw something that he thinks may be the beginning of a sac! Oh, I'm praying it is!! I'm waiting for results of beta #9, so I'll let you know once I find out this afternoon!! Hang in there! Trust me, I know this waiting is a nightmare!!! Here's to high betas for both of us!!! Jen

Well, they just called and my numbers came back 51, so they have gone down. They were worried about an ectopic pregnancy, but now thik it was probably just a chemical pregnancy. They said I shoudl stop the progesterone and go back in for aother test on Thursday. I am sad
![]() Thanks for all of your support, Wendy Maybe I shoudlkeep taking the progesterone until Tursday? |

Wendy,
I am so sorry! I do have to say that my RE kept me on the progesterone and my beta went from 78 to 75 to 54 and then back up to 61.8. On Sun. is was 565 and I'm waiting for my 9th beta now. My point is that he's kept me on the progesterone. If you stay on it and still go down on Thurs., then I guess you can accept it. But maybe by some miracle it'll go up, like me??? I stayed on it because my RE told me to. But I don't know if since yours said to stop if it could hurt you. I don't think so! Does anyone else know???? Again, I'm sorry but I hope there's a chance Wendy! Jen

Wehn I had the funky Beta thing happen, my RE wanted to give me the shot of methotrexate to end teh pregnancy. I refused. I also refused to stop meds until I was 100% sure we were done. Well, two weeks later, we had an u/s and a heartbeat. We did end up losing that baby, but all on my own, still on the meds. I knew at that point I did all I could. I would not stop until I was for sure ready to stop. Miracles happen all the time!
