Ktaylor - good to hear from you. You're sneaking close to 31 weeks now, right? Every day helps as I'm sure you know! What a roller coaster you're on right now. Do you have family support in the area? Let us know how today goes...at the very least, it sounds like they are monitoring you closely which is good.

Ktaylor08 I just popped on to see how you're doing--so sorry that things seem to have picked up a bit again I hope that they can get your uterus to settle down today--are you definitely being transferred to L&D? I agree with Penny that at 31 weeks, particularly with the steroid shots, your little girl should do very well. Again, being in the hospital cannot be easy in many ways, but it is reassuring they do seem to be right on top of things...please post an update when you know what it going on...thinking of you

I'm currently on day 10 of hospital bed rest. I'm 27 weeks along with ID girls and just hoping they hang in there for another few weeks. It's pretty boring but I know this is where I need to be. My cervix is down to 1.1cm and funnelled. Both babies are doing great though and are very active.

Steph- sorry it took so long for me to reply! They didn't transfer me to L&D... They gave me my last shot of terb which worked, but we've canned that because it's not worth the effect it has on me. It makes my heart race and raises my BP, which isn't good for the pre-e. So we're letting it go now... The MFM doc says he thinks my body knows that the pregnancy is dangerous to my health so it's going into preterm labor to correct the issue. How sad! My poor little girl! So once I start going more into labor, they'll try the mag sulfate to see if that helps the labor. If not, then I'll just deliver. I'm still on the high risk OB floor and I'm not sure if they'll give me the mag here or transfer me to L&D first. So it's just a wait and see situation. I also have a UTI so they're treating that as well, and I'm hopeful that will slow down the contractions as I know a UTI can cause preterm labor. So how are you holding up? Anything new? Good? Bad (hopefully not)?
And hello Sarah! I'm so sorry you're in the hospital too... It stinks! One day life is normal and the next it's flipped completely upside down... I had NO IDEA that this was going to happen to me. Everything had been going fine prior to my OB appt on 6/12 so I was shocked that my cervix was so short. So here I am. They originally wanted me to just make it to 30wks and I'll be 31 tomorrow. Granted I'm only carrying one baby, but my 8-9mm cervix has held up well, and she's a big girl for her gestational age. Are you on complete bed rest or do you have bathroom privileges? I've been having the contractions too, but I get episodes where they come close together for a while. I don't think they're BH contractions but more pre-labor contractions.
Anyways, I'm often bored so I check in on FT often. I hope everything goes well and that your sweet baby girls just grow grow grow! Hang in there... It's tough but there are two very good reasons for you to go through all of this. Keep us posted and vent here if you need to!!!!

Thanks KTaylor! The hardest part is not being able to see my kids all the time, I have a 9yo daughter and 7yo son. Also it's pretty stressful for my hubby mostly because we bought a house and take possession on July 6th and he's doing renos on it then and coordinating new carpets being laid and getting help in and I can't help with any of it. He'll be moving us in July 28. I can get up to use the bathroom and shower but that's it...can't leave the room except for ultrasounds 1x a week. It's not easy but I know it's worth it and just hoping these girls are going to be just fine even though they're pretty much destined to come early.

Last night I was up from 2am to 5am feeling minor contractions...they felt like period cramps with tightening but with my cervix trying to stretch a bit against my cerclage (thank GOODNESS for that cerclage!). No bloody show, no fluid or anything, and they did slow down and eventually stop so hopefully that won't happen again for a long time.

Oh my goodness, Sarah! Moving in the midst of all of this? What an ordeal for your family... But it sounds like you'll make it through just fine
I'm glad to hear you get bathroom/shower privileges too. I was just talking with my patient care tech this morning about the complete bed rest patients and how awful it must be. This sucks bad enough, I can't even imagine having to call every time I use the bedpan to have someone empty it for me.
I get stir crazy in this room... Have you asked if you can get a daily wheelchair ride? I asked a few days after I got here and it makes all the difference. I don't go every day- just when DH visits, but it's nice to get some sun in the garden for a few minutes and have a change of scenery. I'm only allowed 30 min/day though, but it's better than nothing.
I was up for a while the other night with contractions too. It was the same night I found out that the doctors weren't going to stop my labor, so I was terrified all night. My contractions have really decreased over the last few days and I think it's because of the antibiotics taking care of my UTI. And my 24 hour urine came back below the pre-e level for the first time since I've been here, so I've finally gotten some good news. I doubt they'll let me go home though but I'm 31 weeks today, which is great!
    Steph, how are you doing?

KTaylor I couldn't imagine having to call for a bedpan...I'm up to pee at least once an hour, often twice...I'd be driving the nurses crazy! I was going to ask my doc about wheelchair privilages when hubby comes to see me but then when my last u/s came back that my cervix had gone from 1.6cm to 1.1cm I decided it's probably best to just stay put. Most days it's not that bad, but today is ROUGH. It's Canada Day here and I'm in here while my kids have enjoyed a day out in the sun swimming and fireworks tonight. If nothing else this experience has taught me to never ever take my time with them for granted.
As for moving, it's a long story but it was an opportunity we couldn't pass up, and the place has the 4 bedrooms we'll be needing. The layout is great but it needs a really good cleaning, some updates and some cosmetics to make it to our taste. By the time I get out of here I don't think I'll even see our old place again, so it's kind of like Extreme Home Makeover for me lol.

I'm glad the antibiotics are working, what a scary time to get a UTI. Also YAY for the pre-e level being lowered! It sounds like you're on the right track! If I go into labour before 32 weeks I'll be transported by ambulance (in labour) to a hospital 45 mins away that has a level 3 NICU. This hospital has a 2.5 level and can accommodate preemies 32wks and older. Kinda scary.
