Question on dollar store tests

Hi there. I should know this, as I am not new to infertility, but I am just taking a "poll" to see what all of you think of Dollar Tree (dollar store) HPTs and ovulation predictor test. Do you think they are accurate? Have you had problems with evap lines? Are they way less sensitive than other, more expensive brands? Also, if you see a very, very faint line after about 7 minutes (almost colorless), would you think this was a pos or an evap? Just curious... Thanks!

I haven't used the ovulation tests, but have used HUNDREDS of the HPTs. I love them. In my experience, I have found them to be more accurate (or at least AS accurate) than any of the expensive brands, and I've used them all. I did have some issues with doing the test wrong at first (putting too much or too little pee on the stick) but I have it down to a science and I wouldn't use any other test.

I would think after 7 minutes, that it is a faint +. But the fact that you say it is almost colorless makes me wonder. Can you post a pic?

I would just go ahead and take another one right now (or as soon as you can pee again). It's only $1.

Crystal- Thanks for the quick reply. I will probably POAS tomorrow using FMU. Just out of curiosity, what happened when you used too much pee or too little pee? I didnt' realize that could be a problem...

I love the dollar store tests! IMO they are very accurate.

I had a very faint positive on a test one time, got a blood test that same day, HCG was only 21, which is like, barely pregnant. I will never pay more than a dollar for a test after that!

Too much pee washes the test out. The control line is even light. A positive either won't show or will be all smeared and partial.

Too little pee, and it isn't enough to activate the dye in the lines. Neither line shows up or the control line is super light.

At first, I blamed the tests, saying oh well, what do you expect for a dollar? There's bound to be "duds". But I realized it was me.

I think the test says to apply 5 drops of pee and that's about right.

I love the cheap strip tests from ebay there fab lol i buy them every month i always find them to be 100% accurate. I get a positive on the opks all the time and at the cheap fab price you can by loads of them so you can test when you want to. I use the cheap hpts the 10ml and if i am bfp i get a good accurate line. You can get a very faint line on thesa because they detect the least bit of hcg as there so sensitive. Its very rare to get a evap for the amount of time i have been using them i have never had a evap. If a evap does happen it will be grey and hard to see and only able to see when you have it under a light or have to squint and turn it all ways to see it

well, it appears that what i saw the other day was an evap line b/c I used FMU this morning and nothing. BUT, it is still early... maybe I will test again in a couple days.
