Expert input needed....

Been at this game a long time and usually don't have too many questions, but even the physician I work for was puzzled and thought that my BBT/OPK friends here at FT might have some input.

I've always had greatly regular cycles, with O occurring approximately CD12-16 or so. On a clomid cycle, I'm usually CD 16, with a regular cycle I'm usually around CD12-13.

Here's the tricky part that has me stumped...I also pay attention to my cervical positioning, mucus and opening in relation to O just because it gives me a more clear picture. I've usually had EWCM that correlates to a high, soft, open os and O pains, especially with clomid. I've noticed the last two months that with extreme O pains (almost like being on a clomid cycle or maybe I'm just more aware now), a high, open, soft cervical os...my mucus would be much better described as....LOTION?!? wth??

What exactly makes mucus and ovulation correlate? Of course, I can find NOTHING in any of my women's health nursing texts, nothing online and like I referenced earlier, my physician was stumped. I tried to consider what could be ruled out, and there's no infection present, no medication changes (and no meds that interfere with mucus, like antihistamines or anything), no products of attempted conception leftover , and nothing has changed. I'm considering utilizing robitussin next month ahead of time to see how I can change the consistency, but its a little late now for this month.

Anyone else deal with cervical mucus issues that could shed some light here? What else influences this? I drink plenty of fluids (probably way too much coffee), am in excellent health, and my cycle is pretty clockwork.

Any ideas ladies??

kelcey...i'm honestly not sure what would cause it to be lotion like. idealy it should be thinner to assist in mobility. if this was the first time you've seen it, it could be an isolated incident and i wouldn't worry. if you notice it again next month and you've ruled out any other possibilities then i would start with the robitussin.

i know that wasn't much help, i apologize. i'm running out the door now but will see if i can find any additional info for you when i come back.

Your cervical mucas starts as lotion like and feels sticky it then becomes a pure white colour and a lot thicker and more of a creamy feel. When its near ovulation time its gets lotion feels more of a wet slippery feel and then for some they get the ewcm clear and stretchy with out breaking. Myself i use to get ewcm but for the last few years i struggle finding it. I only get the lotion cm then the thick white cm and i feel cervix which is softer round ovulation time and it goes high up hard to reach just when i am about to ovulate. When i am out of the fertile phase my cervix starts to feel hard like the tip of your nose. Sometimes you can get ewcm but only a small amount in with your cm. Tmf but when you go the toilet for a number 2 this is when you get to see cm more. I have just seen a little bit of ewcm stretchy so when i checked my cervix it felt soft and there was watery cm lotion like colour. Clomid makes the cm thicker and produce more of it which can sometimes be a pain to check for ewcm. I use preseed because of the lack of ewcm i dont get anymore or cant find or miss it lol. I find that preseed helps me as well as opks so when i get a positive opk i use preseed despite what my cm looks like. XX

Hey Kelsey!

Are you on clomid or all natural? I know when I was on clomid my CM was ALL messed up. As for lotion and not EW.. I dunno!! I would suggest having some preseed on hand for if you see that and you are getting ready to O.

How ya doing? I havent talked to you forever woman!

i have a friend who took clomid and it made her cm pretty much non existant. i thought of it, but i interpreted your post as if this wasn't a clomid cycle. if i misunderstood i apologize. if this was in fact a clomid cycle that could very well be the cause!

ok, forgive me ladies...I got called out of town for work and couldn't get to a computer.

I'm still puzzled about the CM and I do have a new sx/sx to add...hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating). Going to run it by the dr. I work for and see what he thinks...I'm puzzled.

Kat I'm doing good..all natural cycles for now but probably going to go for another clomid soon.. after the clomid m/c because of the progesterone snafu, I've been hesitant to jump back on that wagon.

Hey there! How is your thyroid? Sometimes excessive sweating can be a sign that something is off kilter with it. See http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-a...edical-problem

Another potential cause could be dehydration, I suppose.

Other than that, I will say that I have noticed over the years that my cm seems to come and go in terms of quality and quantity... probably because of dehydration in my case!

I hope you get to the bottom of it (and then let us know!).

Good luck and keep us posted+++++++
