pos hpt neg at dr office???

Ok so hubby and I have been TTC for 2 years now. first preg was ectopic last year and we're told can only have a baby via IVF. Well we had an HSG an were told to go home a do the baby dance since everything was open. AF is due today or tomorrow and i went ahead and took an HPT since im one of those overly eager people LOL and it was positive (answer brand) hubby went to the store and bought another one that was very very faint but was positive (one step generic brand) So i went to my PCP and did another pee test and it was negative. He tells me to come back in 3 weeks to take another test... what 3 weeks??? he said technically your not "late" yet so i demanded a blood test since i dont want to wait 3 weeks and find out yes your preg yes its ectopic and yes we have to do surgery and take your other tube. has this ever happened to anyone before? we were actually waiting for AF to start BCPs for our first IVF cycle!!! could you imagine how happy i would be to have a miracle now??

Find another DR??

Seriously, I have heard some bad things about the Dr Office pee sitcks. Can you contact your OB or RE for a beta?

I hope this IS your miracle!! Keep Us Posted!

my RE office is 3hour drive from here, so i kind of have to go through my PCM. we have tricare since DH is in the military and in order for it to be paid for... i have to do it there way. i wish i could just go anywhere i wanted to. i wouldnt have to got a look from the DR this afternoon when i argued a negative preg test LOL he was like what do you want me to do, its negative. hello, blood test?? you did go to school to be a DR didnt you?? maybe im over reacting because this is how i lost my tube the first time. anyway in order to get anything done here i need to get a referral from my pcp... and they obviously wont give me a referral to an OB without the pos preg test.

Bummer... I would have argued with them too...

Can your RE send in the bloodwork request? My OB used to fax the place I would have blood drawn so they would have the lab request without be going in.

*barge* it happens more than youd think... esp at base clinics as they use bulk discount tests that arent as sensitive as FRER etc that we would choose for ourselves! the best advice i can give is POAS on a FRER or something tomorrow and see if you can have your REs office order the blood draw.... good luck

Oh, how frustrating! I would have been fuming! I like Kat's idea of seeing whether the RE can get your PCP to do the bloodwork. Maybe you can get a sympathetic ear at the RE's office and talk them into faxing the order to your PCP. I really would try! You have a history of ectopic... they should be watching you very closely at any suspicion of a pg!

Good luck and let us know how things go+++++++++
