Lab results
Well the nurse just called with my lab results..I am SHOCKED they called so quick since I just had them drawn less then 5hrs ago. I am CD20. Here it is:
Progesterone 6.77 TSH 3.07 Prolactin 9.51 Today I'm CD20, pretty certain by OPK/BBT that I O'ed on CD12. I know my progesterone should be much higher than it was. Since I was only able to talk with the nurse (who was a fill in, not my docs regular nurse) my docs instructions to her to tell me, was that I am to call them with the 1st day of my next cycle. The nurse could not really elaborate....but please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this is a simple problem that my progesterone needs meds to help boost it or is it also possible I am really not O'ing (but why the increase in my temps & + OPK's then) . I am so glad to have answers and not be worried all weekend.....

Hi there: I'm sorry that you didn't get a chance to speak to your doctor about these results. One thing that you might want to call back and ask about is the progesterone test. Different labs have different thresholds for determining whether someone is considered post-ovulatory or not. For example, according to fertilityplus, anything over 5 is considered post-ovulatory. See http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html
I'm not sure what a 6.77 would mean, therefore. It would be good to know if the lab they used also considers anything over 5 to be post-O. As for the prolactin, I think that's ok. For the TSH, I'm going to copy what I wrote to Maya last night: As for your thyroid numbers, it looks like they are indeed in the range considered normal generally speaking, but for someone who is trying to conceive, the TSH might be a tad high. Here is an article on thyroid and fertility: http://thyroid.about.com/library/weekly/aa050199.htm As you will see from that article (and others, if you Google!), some doctors like to see TSH under 2. You are just above that, so it might or might not be significant. In short, I think you should pursue talking to your doctor about what these numbers mean without waiting until you start your next cycle (if you can). There might be things you want to be doing FOR next cycle and you need to know before it starts! Best of luck and keep us posted+++++++++ Maura |
