Count LP from LH+1..or from temp rise?
Hi everyone
I've just started charting and was wondering how to count Luteal Phase. If OPK shows LH surge Monday and temperature rises sharply on Thursday, is it likely that O was Tuesday and LP starts Wednesday? Or does LP start on the date of temperature rise? ------ Another basic question: If AF arrives August 1st and again on August 30th, then is this a "29" day cycle (the number of temps I mark on each monthly BBT table) or is this a "30" day cycle (counted from Day 1 to Day 1). I've been counting it as "29" but my nurse counts it as "30". --- Thanks a lot.

Hi there! If you get your ++OPK on Monday and your temp rises on Thursday, then most likely you ovulated on Wednesday (the day before the temp rise). Luteal phase length is counted from the day AFTER O to the day before AF. So, if you ovulated on Wednesday, Thursday would be 1 dpo .... and if you then got AF two Thursdays later, that would be a 14 day luteal phase
.As for cycle length, I agree with you . If AF starts on August 1 and then again on August 30, then it's a 29 day cycle because you start counting the day AF comes and you stop counting the day before it comes again (otherwise August 30 would be counted twice!).Best of luck and keep in touch+++++++++ Maura |

Thank you.
I did a single IUI the morning after OPK +. That's the clinic's timing method. Now I think maybe the IUI was done too early, if O was actually the next day....Unfortunately, the clinic did not offer to do second IUI and I understand that washed sperm only last a few hours, and not the usual three days. : ( Waiting for results. Next time I might ask for two back-to-back days of IUI if I get another chance. |

Hi there: Don't count out O on Tuesday. Perhaps you are a slow riser. While the general rule is that you O the day before a temp rise, there are always exceptions! What were your temps on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday?
Plus, the sperm might have lasted longer than you suspect. Fingers tightly crossed for you... let us know and good luck+++++++ Maura |

Here are more details: Fri 97.0 OPK- Sat 97.0 OPK- Sun 97.0 OPK- Mon 97.1 OPK+ (equal lines at 2pm) Tue 97.2 OPK+(specimen is darker than test line at 2pm) Wed 97.2 (did not use OPK again) Thu 97.7 *temp rise 0.5! Fri 97.8 Sat 97.6 ...then temps still steady and high another week...btwn 97.5 and 97.8... |

Hi again: From temps, looks to me like O was on Wednesday, with a coverline of 97.3. Of course, since your surge started on Monday, it's possible that you O'd on Tuesday, too late for a rise on Wednesday morning. Did you notice any cm? In the absence of other evidence, I'd consider a Wed. O with Thursday being 1 dpo.
Nice temps since then .Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++ Maura |
