next step

Well I feel relieved...went back to see my doc today after 17 cycles of no luck TTC#1. I saw her back in Jan. for my annual and mentioned to her at the time that we were sort of trying. I finally found that I was ready to move on to the next step. I brought several copies of my cycles for her to see my OPK/BBT trends. After about 1/2 hr discussion the next step we are taking is hubby doing SA, me going in on day 20 for bloodwork which will be Aug 28th (TSH/Prolactin/midluteal progesterone) & then doing a sonohysterogram probably early Sept. She said other options other than the sonohysterogram would be an HSG or diagnostic lap (which I am 99% opposed to). After having those tests done I will go back & meet with her, if all normal then she said she would prescribe up to 3 rounds of Clomid before turning me over to an RE. I came home & talked everything with the hubby, his whole take is more like "whatever happens happens " but he is ok with doing the above. He of course thinks we need to draw a line at some point, I think his mind goes straight to IVF & he is not up for that (doesnt want to risk being jon & kate he says). So, that's that. My mind can finally be at ease. I Know my blood pressure was up all morning anticipating going to talk to her but I felt good walking out of there knowing I finally have a plan.

So glad you have a plan! Glad too that dh is ok with it. So important to be operating on a similar wavelength if not the same exactly.

Please keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!

sounds like a great plan!!! hopefuly you will have a positive outcome with no need for an RE. keep us posted on your journey.

PS...IVF doesn't have to mean HOM (high order multiples) because when doing IVF you have full control over how many embryos are placed into the uterus. hopefully there wouldn't be any need to visit that, but should you have to the best thing to do is educate yourselves. knowledge is power and things are less scary when you have a full understanding.

Sounds great!!

I hope all the blood work and such come back normal.

Good Luck!

I cant believe that she wont give you the clomid NOW though...My OB didnt make DH do the SA until 3 failed clomid attempts. Same with the HCG. When on clomid I did the 7 dpo blood draw to check for ovulation. DH wasnt too happy but he got it done and we try to not talk about it.. haha

I'm thinking her reasoning behind waiting for Clomid was just to make sure my bloodwork, his SA as well as having that sonohysterogram done was all normal first. I didnt really argue, I guess I'd rather know I am hopefully "all normal" in those areas first before starting a new med ... What days did you take the Clomid & what test is it they do 7DPO, another progesterone ? Thanks!

I took clomid for the most part days 3-7.. since you tend to O later than normal. Then 7 dpo is a progesterone check.. its normally called 21 day progesterone, but I never Od on day 14!! lol

Thanks! Someone else I know took it days 5-9. My last 3 months I O'ed on CD14/15/16. Just by looking at my temps/OPK charts I surely am ovulating I think ??? I dont know that much about Clomid but if that's what can potentially help I'm all for it !!!
