BBT / O Question
Okay... question. I am on CD 17 and I have always ovulated between CD 12-14. Well based on my BBT I have not ovulated yet! I have also been doing OPK once or twice a day for the past eight days... all negative - although there has been a line on some of them... just not dark enough to be positive! I also had a little spotting last night which is also unusual for me! Is it possible to skip an 'O' every now and then. And if so... would my temps stay low all month?
Any input would be GREAT! Thanks!!!

hi rachel....yes, it's possible and probably happens to everyone once in a while. should you have an annovulatory cycle then you won't see the shift in your temps as you normally would.
have you done anything different or started a new medication this month? are you on clomid?

Whew... thanks for your input! No, I haven't changed anything at all - I'm not on clomid... just taking a PNV and baby asprin. But this is my second month temping... but after looking back at last month my temps didnt go up until 3 days after my ++OPK so maybe thats just me... IDK! But I didn't have a ++ one this month! Of course I would have an annovulatory cycle when I am trying to figure my cycles out before I start IUI! Thanks...

rachel....seeing your temp shift 3 days after your pos OPK is actually right on target. we get a pos when our LH first starts to surge and O usually takes place anywhere from 12-36 (sometimes 48) hours later. the temp shift appears the day AFTER you've O'd so it's perfect.
temping is a very beneficial tool. if this turns out to be an annov cycle it will hopefully be an isolated incident. if you start to see a pattern that's a flag for sure and should be addressed with your doctor. i know it's so frustrating when you're trying to get things moving and you miss a cycle, but it's information that you gather from tracking your cycles that also help to identify certain issues...KWIM? the more information you have the easier it is to move forward. so hang in there!! keep us posted!

Hi Rachel, For some reason I didn't see this post until just now!
So, have you seen any temp shift yet? I always ovulated anywhere from cd 12 to cd 20 (occasionally even later!) .... maybe this is going to be a longer cycle this month for some reason ... or maybe on those months you weren't temping, you were actually ovulating later than you realized! As Dina said, it will be really helpful going forward to collection all of this information re your cycle .Good luck and I hope you've O'd by now! Keep us posted+++++++ Maura |

No I haven't had the temp shift... I temp every single morning without fail. I'm on CD21 - so I am just guessing this is an anovulatory cycle this month! But I will have several months now to continue temping b/c I have to have a hysteroscopy/laproscopy and possible septum repair in August... so now EVERYTHING is being delayed!
But thanks for the insight y'all!

Hi Rachel: Oh that's frustrating! But you know, I'd keep BMSing because you never know ... O can sneak up upon you when you least expect it!
What kind of septum repair might you have? I had a uterine septum (the outside of my uterus looked normal, but the inside was mildly heart-shaped) and had two early m/cs and then unexplained infertility. I had the septum removed during a hysteroscopy and within 3 months I was pg with my ds. My dd followed within 3 months of ttc#2! I would go ahead with getting rid of that septum if there's any question at all! Good luck and keep us posted++++++++ Maura |

Actually I had a spike this morning... CD22! It was within the normal area that it was last month post O! I'm still hoping that AF starts on time b/c my appts for pre-op and surgery are based on AF starting by next monday! DK- yes it is aweful when I want one thing and am having to wait again! Ugh! Maura, did the doctor give you the go ahead an TTC again or did it just happen?

Hi Rachel,
Well, I'm glad you probably O'd but I'm sorry it may thrown off your schedule! As for me, yes, the doctor gave me high doses of estrogen and progesterone after the operation to prevent scarring and adhesions... then he said to ttc naturally once I got my first post-Op period. Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++ Maura |
