need advice re: personal lubricant
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but, I'm looking for some quick advice regarding personal lubricant. Without going into any overly personal details, our doctor suggested that my partner and I use a personal lubricant, but not KY because it can kill sperm. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding more natural (less sperm killing) options. Also, I know there are probably lots of choices in the US, but I live in Ottawa, Canada--so if anyone knows of a brand that I can get here, that would be great! Thanks in advance! Me --33 y.o. --stage 3 endo, poor responder --IVF 2007, failed --conceived naturally 2007 --DS born May 2008 --currently trying again

Hi Dawson! I have never used Preseed but other women have and I think they were happy with it. Here is a link to stores perhaps near you where you could buy:

I have read that olive oil is NOT good! Here is an article that talks about different lubricants, including olive oil (concludes olive oil just as bad as KY):

Looks like ASRM recommends Pre-seed or mineral oil or canola oil.

My RE recommended either the old school turkey baster/egg whites....which I couldn't bring myself to do..... or Preseed. We've used the Preseed during Clomid cycles where things are "dryer" than normal.
The place I order from has decent prices on it as well as OPK's and HPT's. www.early-pregnancy-tests.com. HTH |

i've always heard that preseed was sperm friendly.
stay away from oils and real egg whites too. there was a time when egg whites were recommended but i think you run into a whole other issue with that due to possible bacteria.

"Preseed" in applicator tubes (smaller than a tampon) are available by mailorder. It is also sold in individual foil packets as "Pre". Another similar product is sold in little bottles called "Pre Conceive". I definitely prefer the tubes - it's a clean new package each time, and it goes exactly to the right place to help the swimmers find the cervix!
You may also want to buy Robitussin or Mucinex brand expectorant tablets (the plain ones, not the DM version) to improve cervical fluid consistency. Lots of info on this, if you search. Last edited by Mrs Bunny; 08-28-2009 at 07:52 AM. |
