Please..help, Positive HPT and then spotting

Hello,

I really need some help. Yesterday I was 13dpo and I took a hpt (in the morn) and it was positive. It was a faint + but a + none the less. Being that a am a POS freak, I did about 3 more. Those were negative. I figured that all the hormone was out of my system and was just not registering. This morning I took another one and it was negative again...plus, I started to spot.

I have had 4 miscarriages in the past so I am not a stranger to saddness and disappointment but, why did that one test have to be positive....I can handle getting AF and chalk it up to it not being our month. WHen you get a positive and then a negative followed by spotting really can screw with your emotions.

When I first stared this post it was to ask the question if this scenario has happen to anyone else and then it just went into a rant....

If anyone can offer anything that can make me feel better today, I welcome it! Thanks SOOOO much for taking the time to read my post. I hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful day- I am thinking about you all!

I'm so sorry for you Jen1031. Were you using the same brand test each time? Some tests are much more sensitive than others, and spotting is not uncommon in early pregancy. I'm trying to sound optimistic, but it sounds like it may be a chemical pregnancy... I know emotionally just that one day of thinking "this was finally the month!" makes getting AF that much harder to accept. We are cycling again this month, after a miscarriage so I understand what an emotional rollercoaster it can be. Hope all works out for you this month, but if not I'm sure you'll get your BFP soon. Good luck.

Hi Jen: I'm so sorry too ... about this month's disappointment and also your miscarriages. Have you done any testing specifically to see if you can find out why it keeps happening? I went through a bunch of testing (I had 2 m/cs and a molar) and after 3 years, found out that I had a uterine septum that my RE thought was a probable cause of the m/cs. When it was removed, I had no more fertility issues, so I suspect he was right!

I would think about getting a beta every time you see a ++HPT which then disappears. I think it's important to document that you are indeed getting pg. This information could lead to your finding out what the issue is.

Very best of luck to you and please keep in touch+++++++
Maura

Thank you so much for responding! I started my inferitility battle in 2002 and went through every test out there. What they finally found out was I had a slight case of PCOS. They say, my miscarriages could have been from the IUI's I had done....or, they say it was just not meant to be.

In 2007, I got pregnant and have a beautiful daughter. We have been ttc#2 on and off for the last year. When TTC#1 I was on repronex...this time, my RE says all I need is Femara and so far it has worked (but not really). When I say worked, I have good mature follicles.

Maura- My RE gave me the lecture about the HPT and that I should always call for a beta...I am just obsessed with peeing on sticks I went in this morning for a beta and just siting here waiting for them to call me back. At this point, I just want the confirmation that it is done so I can focus on the next cycle.

Kval- I am so sorry you miscarried. I know nothing can be said to make the hurt go away! Thank you for all your kind encouraging words...please know that you made me feel better. I wish the best for you this month and I will be checking in to see how things are going!!!

Hi again: Oh, good, I'm glad you got a beta! Let us know when you hear back, ok?

I wonder what they meant by the m/cs might have been because of the IUIs? And when you said you had all kinds of testing, did you have testing specifically for Recurrent Pg Loss? I just want to make sure that they are looking at that specifically. I know m/cs are more common than people realize and most are chromosomal, but when you had had 4 of them, I think it merits a targeted exploration. Don't mean to sound preachy ( ) but it was a huge issue to me back when I was ttc. My OB gave me tests too, but it was only when I went to an RE who specializes in RPL did I feel that somebody was finally paying attention to MY problem and not just wanting to put me on Clomid (when ovulation was not my issue).

Anyway, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++
Maura

I am so sorry.

I also had a m/c last cycle after 2 weeks of BFP! Its really hard and this month has been a rollercoaster ride through the 2ww.. I am 13 dpo and scared to test.

What type of tests were you using? I HATE the blue dye tests.. they drive me nuts.. I love FREDs.
