LH Surge but no temp change?
I'm new here - but not new to TTC
. I was TTC from 2002-2006 (severe male factor issues). We did 3 DIUI, 3 Clomid DIUI, 2 Follistim DIUI & 2 IVF. Now I'm remarried (to the guy I should have married the first time) and we've been TTC for 5 mths naturally using TCM. I'm 28, he's 29, normal SA.My cycles have been pretty irregular (long follicular phase, short luteal) but I switched acupunturists and last month was pretty normal. This month I had an LH surge at Day 13, my day 14 temp dropped (ovulation dip) and my cervical mucus had a definite change. The problem is that I'm on day 16, 2 days past supposed ovulation and my temps have not changed at all. In past cycles I've had a definite temp shift. Any ideas? If I hadn't had the LH surge & CM change I would think I just haven't ovulated but I definitely had those. Help???

It is possible that the egg did not release. I had an LH surge verified by b/w but no temp rise because the egg did not release. They had to give me an hcg trigger to release it. However, you could just be a slow riser. Give it another day.

Hi Michelle and welcome! I'm glad to hear about your remarriage to the "right guy"
. Maybe the life change will bring you success in your family building too.I agree with pray2rita ... I'd give it another day to see what your temps do. And I would keep BMSing every day just in case you are about to O! Good luck and keep us posted++++++++ Maura |

Could you have had the dip.. but it wasnt a pre O dip? I had a few charts where it looked like O was going to take place due to a little dip, but then I got fooled and Od a few days later.
As for CM.. this cycle I had overwhelming EWCM, but it started 4 days before O... once we started BMS, it wasnt as much as the first day it really started... I got my high then peak on my monitor and ++OPK... I had the cramping feeling and the next morning I temped to check and it was over my norm pre O temps.. (I cheat temp )Keep busy and wait for the rise.. just in case! Good Luck to you!!BTW... LOVE that PUPPY!!! |

hi michelle...could there be any outside contributing factors that could be affecting your temps? air conditioning, inconsitant sleep patterns, alcohol consumption? there are many things that could have an impact. are you temping at the same exact time each morning?
if you want, post your temps and we'll have a look.

I'm not quite sure how to post my temps. I use TCOYF software, is there a way to upload that? My temp has kind of changed now but it's up one day & down the next which is unusual for me. I am wondering if it is the a/c or sleep patterns. I've got the A/c on more than usual & I'm waking up early (like at 6), then I catnap 'til 7 which is when I temp. I set the alarm for temps so it's always the same time. But I would think that would cause my temps to be higher than normal, not lower...

Hi Michelle: I'm sure there is a way to share your temps, but I don't know it! I'll see what I can find out.
As for A/C and different wake up times, yes, both can affect temps. If possible, the best temp is the temp right upon waking ... so if you could take it at 6 when you wake up, that's better than taking it after an hour of catnapping. But if not, just note any "disturbance" or difference from the norm on your chart and use the temp you've got .Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++ Maura |

I have a question. I have started charting to pinpoint O -- today I had a VERY definite temperature drop and a very positive POAS LH Surge.
Does the dip mean I have ovulated? Going to ovulate? Or I am ovulating right then? The reason I ask is that I get a very faint line (very hard to see) on POAS for two days in a row then I get the super dark line (and that is the same day that I get the temp dip. So am I being too late by the time I get the super dark line?

Hi cpgal: The temp dip could be a sign that you are ovulating that day (it's NOT a sign that you have already ovulated). Ditto for the super dark line on your OPK (the faint lines are not positive, but the super dark line is your LH surge indicating that you should ovulate within the next 12-48 hours).
Bottom line, when you see the surge and/or the temp drop, BMS! BMS today and for the next 2 days (or until you see your temp rise at least .2 of a degree and stay up). Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++ Maura |
