Too early to test?

Today is cd 23 and I took a HPT which came out negative. My cycles have been 22 days regular so I though OK one day late, good to go for a test. Is it possible I am pregnant and I took the test too early. Maybe I don't have enough HCG in my system yet. I plan on taking another test on October 1st if AF stays away and that will be cd 28. Does this sound good?

Dina - I think I ovulated on Sept 14, so today would be 12 dpo.

ok, then it could still be too early. i was never able to turn a test pos at 14/15 dpo. i always had to retest 4/5 days later.

when you say your cycles are regularly 22 days, does that mean you O early? or do you normally have a short LP?

Dina - My cycles are usually 22 days long (apart). I think I ovulated on cd 11 this cycle. Would this be early or late in a 22 day long cycle? Also wha is luteal phase? HOw do I know how long mine is?

Andy's Wife - Thank-you for the good wishes.

Well today is cd 24 and AF is still MIA. Hope it stays away at least until Wednesday when I will be cd 28 and I can HPT again.

googie...your luteal phase is the part of your cycle that goes from when you O to when you get AF. the average LP is usually 12-16 days. implantation can occur up to 10 dpo so generally doctors want to see that as the minimum length. anything shorter than that means your lining is sheding prematurely and can possibly interupt a conception that hasn't had time to implant.

the LP is counted from the day after you O. so if you O'd on cd 11 then cd 12 is considered 1 dpo and so on.

for the purposes of your cycle, if you O'd on cd 11 then you're presently 13 dpo. if you had gotten AF on cd 22 then your LP would've been 10 days long which is borderline. many doctors aren't comfortable with a 10 day LP, they like to see it at around 12. the follicular phase of your cycle (the time before O) is much less important than he LP.

whether this cycle turns out pos or not (and of course we hope it does ) your LP is a good length.

waiting until wednesday would be a great timet to test. let us know how it goes!!!

good luck!
