I'm 37 years old, turning 38 in a few months; I've undergone 3 prior IVF cycles with no success . In the past I've produced 9-11 eggs, this time I produced 4 and only two fertilized. Sunday, Sept 14th I had (1) grade A-6 cell transferred and (1) grade 3 with fragments (did not look so good).
Does anyone know if there is a chance that a pregnancy can still occur with that one grade A 6 cell embryo? Today is day 3 after the transfer. Also does anyone know how many days the embryos take to attach after the transfer? Is there any feeling to look out for to indicate if this is a success?

Hi there: I have almost no knowledge about IVF, but I would think that you definitely have a chance to conceive as long as one good egg was transferred! As for how long it takes to implant, I think it depends on how old the blastocyst is? Was it 3 day or 5 day, for example?
I'll check back++++++++++++ Maura |

Hi... I am nosing around, I am from the surrogacy board! There are pg tests you can buy in bulk online that test at 20 units of HCG (the very soonest) and you can start testing around 6 days post transfer and it should be positive by day 11 for sure. Also, depends on if you transfered on day 3 or 5, but I'm assuming it was a day 3 if the one didn't look so great? Usually 5 day blasts look pretty good. Anywho...just some thoughts and there have been MANY over on the surro boards that have transferred badly fragmented embies and have resulted in great little babies! Be encouraged!

Thank you both! Encouragement is always needed when you're going through this type of thing. I transferred two embryos on day 3. One of them was a grade A six cell- the embryologist was pleased with that one, the other was graded a 3... I pray that the lord bless me with a healthy baby. Good luck to you all!

Hi again! Ok, so it was a 3 day blast and now it's 3 days after the transfer? That -- I think -- is the equivalent of 6 dpo. So, I'd wait another 6-8 days or so to test!
Good luck and let us know how the cycle turns out! ++++++++++++ Maura |
