How early can you HPT after implanation spotting?

I started spotting Mon...two drops of pink. Then, yesterday and today it's been brown. Today is day 22 of my cycle. I think I ovulated around day 15 or 16.

I took a hpt last night (day 21 or 5 o r 6 days past ovulation) and it was neg. I took a hpt this morning (day 22 or 6 or 6 days past ovulation) and it too was neg.

Am I taking these tests too early? I thought you could hpt 2 days following implantation spotting and get an accurate result. So, I'm wondering if the neg. is the accurate result. And, maybe this isn't implantation spotting.

Also, is it possible to get pg. symptoms before you are able to get a bfp?

Any opinions???

TIA!

hi,

I think you're testing too early. A positive is possible, yet rare at 10 dpo, I think its most accurate to wait until at least 14 dpo. I am sure its different for everyone and it depends on the sensitivity of the hpt, but I think 6 dpo is early for any of them. I'd hold off a couple more days and even then, don't give up if its neg. I really think 14 dpo is the "usual" testing time.

Good Luck - hope a few more days will bring you the +++!

I agree with Tess! I have NEVER heard of a ++HPT at 6 dpo. The usual early number is 10 dpo, although I have heard of maybe 1 or 2 9 dpos in all my time here. Implantation usually happens between 6-12 dpo so an HPT would never be accurate at 6 dpo!

Best of luck this month and let us know how things go+++++++

way too early!! 10 dpo is the earliest recommendation for hpt'ing. although i (personally) believe in waiting until at least 14 dpo.

good luck!!!!! let us know how it goes.

BeeBee2008,

I went to Wal-Mart a little bit ago to buy DH's b-day cake...and I had to make myself walk FAR away from the HPT test's. I was too close when I bought b-day cards.

But, alas...I must give in! I'm on my way to the dollar store soon to buy some. I figure those are cheaper and I won't feel so awful about piching bfn's.

Ok, as I said...I was going to the dollar store to get some tests. I bought 8 of them. The lady at the check out line looked at me as if she thought I had flipped my lid. And, she's probably not too far from the truth!

So, I poas from the dollar tree. I'm used to sticking those things right in the line of fire and peeing all over the little pee part. But, the dollar tree brand comes with a syringe that you gently squirt 4 little drops onto the small hole. Ok, I'm being a little dramatic here. Well, I've GOT to have some fun from this!

The test line came up pretty quickly. But, there was a tiny other line that showed. Juuust barely. You can see it...but, as I said, juuuust barely. That took between 5 and 8 min. to show.

I called my dr. the other day when I was spotting. She told me to start taking tests and because it would be so early, to not give up after the 3 min. time period that the test says. To go ahead and wait about 10 min.

So, is this valid? Do you think that there might be something cooking in there?

I think I've officially gone insane. This whole thing is driving me CRAZY!

Wow, Michelle! It is so early, but it sounds promising! I know I don't have to tell you to try another test! Let us know how the HPT turns (sounds like a soap opera) and GOOD LUCK!
