Welcome, Dee
! In most cases, a ++OPK will mean that you will ovulate in 12-48 hours. But, there are false LH surges that don't lead to O, where an OPK will turn ++ but the woman won't ovulate. Some women with PCOS will see ++OPKs because their LH levels are elevated without resulting in ovulation. And other women will occasionally surge but not ovulate due to stress or some other cause. There is also a syndrome called LUFS where all signs point to O but the woman doesn't release an egg (this needs an u/s for diagnosis because temps will rise and progesterone will rise, but the u/s shows no follicle released). But I don't mean to alarm you! In the majority of cases, a ++OPK will mean that ovulation will follow (not sure that it has to turn negative before that happens. I could imagine a scenario where you could ovulate while your LH is still detectable). Are you temping? Temping can help you see that you have almost certainly ovulated after the ++OPK. Let us know if you have any further questions and we look forward to getting to know you. Good luck! ++++++++++++ Maura |
