OPK +, but no thermal shift?

Is it possible to get a positive OPK + and then never have a thermal shift? I am sure it can happen occasionally, but it seems to be happening to me consistently. If that is the case--am I o'ing or not? OPK says I am--chart disagrees. Which one is more accurate?

Hi there: Yes, it's possible to surge and not actually release an egg. Sometimes, too, women get a false surge, followed by a true surge and ovulation. What is your chart doing exactly? If you have any online charts, we'd be happy to look at them. I tend to trust temps over OPKs, but I am "temp-centric"! The best way to confirm O is a prog. test. If I were you, I'd get one done about a week after your ++OPK and that will tell you whether you did O.

I'll check back to see if you have any temps posted.

Best+++++++++++

During my april cycle, I got +++OPKs, LH level of 20.4, and u/s proof that I ovulated, but no thermal shift. I actually had to override my charting software that month. Are there outside elements that could be effecting your temps..like air conditioning? My A/C caused me to have really low temps this cycle...throwing me totally off.

My Chart

Here is a link to my chart--sorry this is the only one I have online. Apparently the ovusoft software puts a lot of stock in the positive OPK. When I take away the positive OPK data--it says I haven't ovulated yet, but when I put it in--it says I ovulated the next day even though it is eliminating the one and only temperature that was above my coverline.

I am starting to wonder what the point of taking my temp is if the software is just basing my ovulation date off the OPK! After 9 failed months of TTC and confirmation that DH has normal sperm--I am starting to think I might not ovulate. It seems like chart software is bound and determined to give you an O date, even if there is a chance you aren't o'ing. Know what I mean?

I know with my charting software (fertility friend) you can choose if you want the software to determine O based on multiple factors (OPK, CM, CP and most importantly temps) or you can tune it to go by your monitor/OPKs. Maybe you can check to see if your software is the same. I'll have to check your chart out tomorrow from work, as my computer at home has graphic issues. BOOO!!

I fixed the link. Thanks so much for taking a look Linaa78. I know my temp is up today, but it just jumps around so much in the luteal phase--and the software eliminated my good temp rise from 2dpo. Who knows why?

Looks like you got 3 days worth of BDing in during your most fertile time, which is The day of O and the five days prior as most site will state sperm can live up to 5 days in the perfect environment. I am going to keep my fingers crossed, your chart looks great. Keep me posted.

Hi Chargette: I took a look at your temps just now (not sure why I didn't see these posts before now!) and to me it looks like you O'd on cd 18, with a temporary fallback on cd 20. I agree with the coverline that Ovusoft gave you, but I think they got the wrong O date!

I think your BMS timing was good too since you covered the 2 days leading up to O. In the future, I would keep going another few days after your ++OPK just to increase your chances that much more, but you definitely have a chance this month. As Linaa said, sperm can live up to 3-5 days in the right environment!

Best of luck and keep us posted++++++++
