strong thermal shift after period of anovulation???
BBT question . . . I stopped temping when the RE thought I was POF. After 3 years, I put down the charts. Well, when I got my good b/w on July 3, I picked up the thermometer again and casually temped (meaning I skipped a day or two). My b/w progesterone levels says I o'ed and I have the strongest temp. shift I have ever seen in 3 years (from 97.3 to 98.2). Is it the wheatgrass? Is it because I am on like day 109 of my cycle and all that progesterone is stored up? Usually my temp. shift is no greater than 97.7 or 97.9. Now I have had 3 or 4 days of 98, 98.1, 98.2, higher each day.

Hi there: What were your blood results on 7/3? Did it show no POF? Or is that the bloodwork that showed O? What I'm trying to get at is whether you had good b/w on 7/3, starting temping, then got your shift ... or whether when you picked up your therm again after your temping break you were already in the 98's?
In any event, I think it's possible that you did O! I wouldn't think that prog could be stored up and then show a big rise like that. I have seen many anovulatory charts where there is no rise and prog. does not show O at all (therefore, no storing up!). Hope I'm making some sense .I would definitely keep temping! Best of luck and let us know how things go++++++++++ Maura |

Hi, Maura,
Oh, I guess I should take a step back. My b/w on 7/2 showed an FSH 3, LH3, E2 100. We were so happy because my last b/w showed FSH 39, LH39, and e2 60. So you know what we did to celebrate The doc thought I could be POF because of the first set of b/w and AF has been AWOL. So I had given up charting because the doc thought I was POF. So on 7/3, I decided to chart again. I temped 97.3 (I am going to assume that is my pre-O temp. because it usually is in previous cycles). 7/4 temp. is 97.7, 7/5 (I skip), 7/7 97.7 (I have b/w checking my progesterone level on this day), 7/8 98 (nurse calls, progesterone is 8, which indicated ovulation after 106 days!), 7/9 98.1, 7/10 98.2. So, long story short is I am delighted the cycle is back after a long absence but it seems odd that my temp. shift is so strong because in 3 yrs. of cycles it is never that strong.....Just wondering if it is from a super long anovulation period. I also have a fibroid that I need surgery on ASAP, so that is why they took my progesterone level because the surgery has to be after AF....unless the BMS led to a mircale. I don't know how that fits in to the puzzle, but just thought I'd mention it. Last edited by pray2rita; 07-10-2008 at 01:50 PM. |

Thanks for clearing that up! What is your coverline usually? Do you think you O'd on July 3 then? Seems like it if your 97.7 on 7/7 was already post-O and you had a 97.7 on 7/4, eh? Sounds like BMS was timed well
!Can you get another progesterone test tomorrow? That would be around 8 dpo and would show whether the prog. continued to rise up .Best of luck to you! Let us know how the rest of your 2ww goes! +++++++++++++ Maura |

hi pray2rita...those are some crazy changes in your b/w results. are you with the same RE? what does he say about that huge decrease in the numbers?
i remember when i had my bw done and my FSH was relatively low (5.2) and my doc was elated, saying it was "excellent." i guess that would make your "3" a super-excellent wishing you the best of luck!!!!

Hi, Dina,
Well, keep in mind that neither of these FSH levels were CD3 because AF has been AWOL for over 100 days. But, I started taking wheatgrass and royal jelly as soon as I got the FSH of 39. I have the same RE and these two blood levels are about a month apart. I asked my RE if it was the wheatgrass, she said no, this just happens sometimes. My sis is a gyn and I told her that I had been taking wheatgrass and praying like crazy. She did not think it was the wheatgrass either but asked who I had been praying to because the only person in her practice that she saw this happen to was a survivor of the radiation disaster in Chernobyl. (St. Rita...hence my handle and St. Gianna, among others)

hey....who cares what it is, right?
i was told to pray to st. gerard. i bought a medal which i wore with my cross, and individual medals with the prayer card encased in plastic. i kept him with me at all times. i had him in my pocketbook, my car, my dh's car, etc. i still where him with my cross. well, in the event you do get AF (which of course we hope you wont) i would ask your OB to do cd 3 b/w to see if you can get another reading. keep us posted.
