First RE Appt...
I had my first RE appt today... We had originally gone because my DH had low motility (which may have more to do with how the first sample was provided- long story) but we'll see... I wasnt prepared to be on display and to have to do my own tests. He actually was not very nice at all. He told me flat out I had to stop BF all together and that my son didnt need it. He made me feel like a idiot for allowing my son to "control me" and BF even though its not for nutrional reasons.... He as much said that. Also, since Im BF, I ovulated (last cycle) at around day 28. And the previous cycle (I wasnt charting so I dont know the date) was 40 days as well so probably I o'd late too. Well, he told me that my eggs would be MUSH at that point and htat if we tried then I could pretty much guarentee a miscarriage, a baby with a chromosonal abnormatlity or a m/c from BF .... WTF?
Im crying so bad its not even funny. Sorry for the typos... My DH is being great about this but its just not enough.... I dont want to wean my son, but I want to be pg too... I dont know what to do ... Jennie http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/cadensmom

oh jennie...i'm so sorry this doc made you feel this way.
it amazes me how some docs lack the ppl skills they need. they ought to be locked up in a lab somewhere where there's no human contact!looking at your chart from october it looks like you had a great cycle with a normal O date. it's true that research indicates that an O that occurs very late in the cycle doesn't usually produce healthy or viable eggs, but i didn't think that stopping BF would automatically correct that. what were your cycles like before you had ds? P.S. i would've been VERY offended if any dr. lectured me on BF and my child controlling me. i most likely would probably move on and try and find another doctor. this guy sounds extremely self righteous and arrogant!

Hey Dina...
Thanks for your thoughts. We have decided to move on... He was just rude and unprofessional. My sons 15 months, so I guess according to this RE, that since hes past the magic 12 months, Im suppose to jsut wean him cold turkey! Whatever! I have been "gentle weaning" sense his birthday - you know getting a solid schedule of firs thing in the am, before each nap, before bed and the occassional middle of teh night (so 4-5 times a day) and I stopped nursign for comfort and bordom with his birthday... Then we did start doign "daddy rocks" for bed instead of BF... I am weaning jsut in my own time and in my DS own time.... I was just offended that this guy was like "get the kid off the breast now" Also, I showed him my chart and its funny that you say you see an O- so do I. FF says anywhere from day 15-17 depending on which method. TCOYF says no O... But I see it at day 15 myself.... THe RE said nope. He told m charting was a waste of time too... I think its just a bad fit.... Thanks for listening to my rant though- I was really upset... doign a bit better but Ill feel best when I got to someone else- or my DH does - as hes the one with teh bad test.... Jennie |

jennie....first let me correct myself....i was looking at your sept chart when i said it looked great. i'm sorry for the confusion that was my mistake.
your oct chart looks a little iffy. you could've O'd on cd 17 with a temporary fallback. there is a shift there, it's just not as dramatic as the month before....KWIM? i'm glad to hear you're moving on. he sounds like a real jackass. and when did RE's become experts in the field of BF?
