If you have an LH surge, does that mean you will ovulate an egg?
I'm of course hoping to see one or more follicles tomorrow. Do we get an LH surge if we have no developing follicles?
At my CD2 baseline, I had no follicles showing. CD8 - negative OPK CD9 - faint line OPK CD10 - tomorrow, will test again and u/s scan I'm hoping for 3+ follicles (in other words, a miracle! LOL). Then I'm hoping that I still get a faint line on my OPK again tomorrow, so that we can add centrotide so the smaller ones can grow. If I have no follicles, or one, I won't need the antagonist. dana...it "could" happen under certain conditions. women who have PCOS can get a pos OPK because they could have elevated LH levels at anytime throughout their cycle due to cysts.
i imagine you could also have LH present and something else could prevent the body from completing the O process. i think tho that for the most part if the cycle is completely annovulatory, there's no positive OPK, thus not elevation in LH. good luck! i hope you get your 3 follies!!!

Update: RE said yes, I could get LH surge and have no egg.
Good news is that I have four follicles. 9, 9, 10 and 11. OPK was twice as dark as the day before, so I asked to start cetrotide to prevent ovulation. Dana CD11 |

My body is thinking it is time to ovulate, because of the extra estrogen produced by the four follicles. If I ovulate too soon, the eggs will not be mature enough and the cycle will fail. If I only had one follicle, then I would not need to prevent my natural surge.

ok i understand. i thought the body wouldn't actually O unless the follies were large enough (indicating the egg was mature enough) to rupture. i didn't think they'd release prematurely.

One follicle would need to be 'mature enough', but the trigger helps some of the smaller follicles mature. example follicles 19, 15, 15. Without trigger, the 19 would ovulate with the natural LH surge. With trigger, all three would--if they had eggs in them that is!
