could i use OPK as a HPT?

hi, everyone,

what is the difference between HPT and OPK? i've heard other women use a OPK when they are seeing if they are pregnant. is it true that if you get a line on a OPK that it's the same surge we'd get on a HPT?

Hey Jen,
The opk will pick up part of the chain BUT it isn't always accurate. I did opk's my last failed cycle and I continued to test with two lines on the OPK and neg on the HPT. It was picking up something, BUT not HCG. I wouldn't waste my time again. HGUS

thanks so much, stacey, for your reply...that's really good to know. i caved and used one of my clear blue easy OPK sticks and got two lines, got hopeful for my pregnancy test on monday. oh well...

thought it would give me some reassurance but not the much-awaited official p/g news.

were your OPK lines strong, dark ones while your HPT was neg? which days did you test? i just did the OPK today and it was a dark two lines. beta isn't for another 36 hours or so...

Hi Jen!

I've learned in the last month that the second line has to be dark. My OPK was dark in March at 12dpIUI with beta two days later 307.

Last month, my OPK had a very faint second line after ten minutes at 11 and 12 dpIUI. HPT's at 13 and 14dpIUI were negative as was beta at 14dpIUI.

Your other signs look encouraging for BFP. Good luck!
