natural surge and IUI Timing

What is your timing if you are only doing 1 IUI? I surged/+OPK at 4:30 sunday night. Would you go in the next day around 24 hours or the following day closer to 40 hours?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!!

hi vicki...

if you're definitely only doing one IUI then i would opt for the day after in your case. a pos OPK is indicative of an impending O *usually* within 12-36 hours. pushing it for 2 days vould possibly mean missing your surge.

if you were to see a pos first thing in the morning, in that case i'd go the same day.

Thank you for your thoughts....that is what I ended up doing...going in today!! I have been temping too so I will know in a couple of days if it was closer to Oing or way off!!

This is the last IUI and the end of the fertility road for me!! % chance of success is soooooo low for me, but I am thinking good things and gave it my best shot!!

I can tell you that for me, I did 2 natural IUI's. I came in the day after I detetcted my surge. Each time I'm sure I caught the beginning of it, because I tested several times a day like a maniac. Each cycle was a BFN for me. I'm pretty sure that I O'd the day after the IUIs now. The third cycle I did clomid and trigger. The only thing I was worried about is that I ended up surging on my own the day of the trigger. (started in the afternoon) I still did the trigger at 9:30pm and had my DIUI exactly 36hrs later. I personally think that this was better timing for ME. I was never exactly sure when I O'd, but now I think its 36-40 hrs after the beginning of my surge on a natural cycle. I think it depends on the person. I would prob go on the later side if it was me, but only you will know when you O. Good luck!!!

With my first RE, the first time ttc, we would go in 24hrs later for the IUI. When we were doing IUI's a few months ago, with a new doc, he had us coming in around 30-32hrs later.
