Did I miss ovulation?

I took clomid CD 3-7. On CD16 I started getting pain on my right side at approx 10 am. The pain gradually increased all day until about approx 5:30 and completely stopped. DH and I had BMS at 6:00 that day, a half hour after the pain stopped. We didn't have BMS on CD 14 or 15 so I'm worried we missed ovulation. I did an OPK on CD 16 around 5:45 and it was negative- a slight line but definetly negative. I took one this morning and while there was definetly a dark line it would be a stretch to say it was darker than the other line. I have no cramping today, CD 17. I will do another OPK sometime today.

I don't temp because I'm trying not to get completely wrapped up in this. This is our 5th cycle on clomid. I'm only going to the OBGYN right now as I was able to get pg 8 yrs ago on clomid. He does not monitor except for a progesterone test on CD21. Please no speaches on how I should see an Fertility Specialist. Circumstances right now just have not allowed for that. Although it might not be too long before that is where we land.

Hey there! Did you do OPKs before cd 16 or was that your first one? I think if I were you, I might just keep BMSing for now, through cd 20 or 21 (since some women don't O until then). And also BMS if you see any good cm!

One more question: did you BMS on cd 13? If so, then even if you did O on cd 16, your BMS on either cd 13 or cd 16 could have done the trick.

Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++++

Yes we did BMS on cd 13. I didn't do any OPK before CD 16 because I don't think I've ever ovulated before CD 17.

Oh I see! In the future, if your earliest O has been cd 17, I would start the OPKs by cd 15 (if not 14). With a cd 17 O, you can surge as early as cd 15 so maybe that's what happened this month.

In any event, cd 13 or cd 16 could work if you did O on cd 16. But as I said before, I wouldn't necessarily stop BMSing just in case you haven't O'd!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++++

Thank you Maura. I'm hoping we didn't miss out on an opportunity. I've ovulated the past two months with no results. I'm currently taking 150 clomid.

I do have another question. When you take an OPK and see the surge will you continue to see the surge on the OPK until after you Ovulate? Does the surge only go away after you ovulate?

Hi again: I'm not sure. I could envision a scenario where someone surges, but then their LH level returns to an undetectable level before the egg is released. For example, someone surges on cd 11, showing a ++ OPK on cd 11, but then shows a negative OPK on cd 12, but doesn't ovulate until cd 13.

Not sure though!

Best of luck++++++++++++++++

I don't think I missed it!!!! I took an OPK on CD17, there was a line but not dark. I took another OPK today DC18 and the line was definetly darker than the other line!!!! Of course we got right on BMS! So hope is not lost! I'm so excited, I thought this cycle was going to be another bust. I hate these up and downs.
