BF and bbt
just a question. i am still bf my 15mth ds. i have had regular periods for the last 8 mths and suspect i may be ovulating. i never charted since got my periods back but started getting curious. does temping make sense whilst BF. I was pretty sure I o'd this mth (only time i get mucous, pain in side) and started temping after I thought i was o'ing but my temps never went up.
All this is taking me through the IF rollercaoster we went through to have ds but i am getting curious about my fertility (or infertility) at this point. the question : are temps relieable whilst BF????? zizzie

I can't answer your underlying question, but something you said caught my attention -- if you started temping after you O'd, how do you know that your temps didn't go up? Are you basing it on what temps were like pre-DS? I noticed that my temps now seem to be about .5 degree off of what they were when I first started TTC almost 10 years ago. I would think that without a reliable gauge of pre-O temps from this cycle, it would be hard to know whether you O'd simply based on what you think are post-O temps, KWIM?

Zizzie--
My ds is 14 months - like youve Ive had my period for 8 ish months Ive been temping ... and seem to be geting some what reliable readings... My pre-o temps were very low (96ish) and my midwife said it could be the BF The only way to tell if your body is affected is to start with day 1 and temp all month and see what you get ... though if your like me - you should get some reliable results Jennie |

Hi Jenni! I would think that temping during breastfeeding WOULD be reliable ... it was for me
! I'm a little confused about when you started temping recently ... do you mean you've been temping for months now (after you thought O had returned) or do you mean you started only this month after this month's O? Sorry if my question is confusing!Anyway, if you had some temps we could look at, that might help us help you figure things out .Best of luck and I'll check back! ++++++++++++++++ Maura |

hi all and thanks for your responses.
I did not temp pre O and was basing my temps pretty much on my pre preg temps, but i guess should not do that. Maura, i started now after i thought I O'd which i know is silly, just wanted to see what my body is up to. My gyn told me that with BF fertility is lower, but on Kellymom I read that if periods have a somewhat regular pattern then it is likely that BF is not affecting fertility. TO be honest I want to start temping to see whether my body is functioning OK . My DH and I have no chance of conceiveing naturally (due to MF, and i have mild PCOS) ..although my gynae told me not to be so sceptical as strange things happen (yeah but not me ). My DS was conceived through IVF. Right so i will start temping again when i get AF and will see what happens. Will post the temps then as i guess it is no use temping ath this point. I will try and get some OPK as well..are they ok to use when BF? Many thanks everyone zizzie |

Thanks Maura... Im experiencing some classic signs (implanation dip, tiny tiny amt of spotting, and triphasic pattern) so keep your fingers crossed for me!
