I am really getting frustrated with this cycle! The new issue I'm having is that my opk started off dark and is getting LIGHTER!
I started using on the opk on 10/3 (cd8) and I had a VERY dark line. Almost positive dark. Tested the next day (cd9) and the line was lighter. Tonight (cd10) the line is virtually invisible!!! I don't get this. Did I O really really early and I missed it? I am lucky that I always have a fade in pattern with OPKs so it is very obvious when I am getting closer to ovulation. This cycle it appears as though I am getting farther away from O! Help! Is this cycle a bust? On clomid cd3-7 I have always ovulated between cd13 and 14. Shouldn't I be getting darker lines now??? Please help me understand!! (Crossposted in October iui 2007 thread)

it would be very unlikely that you O'd that early on clomid. of course nothing's impossible, but not likely. i'm trying to remember if clomid can have an impact on OPK's. i vaguely remember it might be possible....that you shouldn't OPK for a certain number of days after you've stopped clomid? i could be totally making this up...LOL maybe someone else can chime in here. i know clomd will affect your temps during the days that you're taking it.
did you BMS anyway to try and cover your bases? i would not give up hope that you'll still O. i would continue to OPK. don't forget clomid can actually push off your O. many women O between cd 17-22ish while using clomid. so it could even be later for you thatn normal. good luck! keep us posted

Hi guys,
Yes, Clomid can affect OPKs! Here's what the fertilityplus website has to say: "Serophene/clomiphene citrate) can cause a false positive in OPKs if taken too soon after finishing the prescription. According to most of the manufacturers you should wait at least 3 days before using an OPK. If you take Clomid days 3-7 you can begin testing on day 10. If you take it 5-9, you should wait until day 12." So, I think you can now start relying on the OPKs (you are cd 10 today, right?) and hopefully will see a true ++ soon! Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++++ Maura |
