hi ab....i do see O according to your temps. just based on temps alone, it's not always easy to pinpoint, but it looks like it might've been on cd 18. there's a slight chance it could've been on cd17, but there are still afew temps from the few days before that, that makes day 17 questionable. it always helps to record other bodily signs as it sort of makes it more clear.
as for the temps dropping back down here or there, it's pretty normal. we get a secondary surge of estrogen approx a week after O that causes the temporary fall back in temps. your progest results indicate O because you did O. generally speaking, if you didn't O, your doc would be able to see that in your progest as it would be very low. many of the women here use fertilityfriend.com software for their charting purposes. it allows for other signs to be recorded as well, which helps in narrowing down the exact day of O. you might want to give it a try. good luck this cyle!

ab....could you post a link to your FF chart?
i don't necessarily agree with FF. i do realize your temp went back down a drop on cd 20 (which is not uncommon) but i don't think your bw would've shown increased progest production the next day.

This is my chart. Is there a problem if the progesterone level increased the next day of ovulation?I am worried now because I read that increased progesterone may mean ovarian cancer. |

ab, i was hoping to see add'l notes about cm, cp, etc. but i guess the program is just going based on temps alone. although i can understand that it's seeing the big jump from cd 20-21, i still think that cd 18 is a good possibility.
as for the progest....i didn't mean to make you worry at all. i just didn't think you'd see the increase in the progest the day after O. maybe you do. or, maybe you O'd on cd 18, which would explian it perfectly

Hi there: When I read your temps typed out, I was thinking either cd 17, 18 or 20 ... when I saw them on a graph, cd 17 jumped out at me, although I still can't rule out cd 18 or 20.
You can work backwards (if you get AF) and estimate O if you know your luteal phase. Luteal phases are typically 12-16 days long. With a 28-33 day cycle, this means you could O anywhere from cd cd 12 (with a 16 day LP and a 28 day cycle) to 21 (with a 12 day LP and a 33 day cycle). If you know your LP, though, you can narrow down that window! CP is cervical position. As O approaches, the cervix becomes soft, open and wet and actually moves up higher in the body (so it can be hard to find). It can take a while to get the hang of noting cp signs and some people never do it at all. Back to your progesterone for a minute ... if your doctor can tell you the number, you could probably figure out whether it was cd 17/18 or 20. Since progesterone rises as you move through the LP, I'd expect prog. to be lower on cd 21 if you had just O'd the day before on cd 20. Anyway, good luck and let us know how things go+++++++++ Maura |

ab...
cp= cervical postion. some women find it helpful to do cervical checks to help them figure out if they are nearing O. ya know, after looking at your chart again, i realized that maybe FF is right. when looking at your temps, i honestly wasn't looking past the first place after the decimal because most ppl don't record their temps like that. i just naturally zeroed in on the 97.7 to the 97.9 jump, not taking into consideration that the 97.9 was really 97.79. without other info, it's just not easy to be certain which of the days was truly O day. even just noting changes in CM can give us better info. and of course doing OPK's in addition to temping is the icing on the cake as for the LP (luteal phase,) you're correct in that AF should show 14 days after O, however that's not always the case. additionally, if for example you got AF on june 4, that could mean you O'd on cd 20, with a 14 day LP, or it could mean you O'd on on cd 18 with a 16 day LP. in either case, that would be a healthy LP, as anything between 12-16 days in within normal range, but it just doesn't really help pinpoint exactly which day you O'd. is this the first month you've charted? if not, do you have any other charts we can look at?
