Introducing myself
I'm new. So here is my basic info and what I've been going through.
I have almost 6 year old already. We had no problems with concieving him. He was premature 7 weeks, stayed in the NICU for 4 weeks but other than that everything about the pregnancy, labor, birth, and now have been perfect. We've been TTC for about 1 year. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago and had it regulated with birth control. Last May we quit "preventing" getting pregnant and my husband got his soldiers tested and he is fine, so in Feb. 07 I started my first round of clomid. I did Provera to induce my period, and did two round of 50mg clomid since they messed up my tests for the first round. 3rd round of clomid 100mg I ovulated but -HPT. This time I did provera and 100mg clomid again. Again I ovulated, -HPT on CD29. Now it is CD34 still no period. Taking Provera to induce it if I'm not PG and if I am the DR tells me the provera will help prevent miscarriage. Tell me what you think. I hope I did this right and I hope y'all understand. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Hello and welcome
!A couple of questions for you. First, how did you confirm that you ovulated? By u/s and/or bloodwork? Do you know what cd you ovulated and how many dpo you are now? I ask because many women on Clomid ovulate later than they think and so you could have had a false negative HPT when you tested on cd 29. I would not take the Provera right now until you know if you are pg or not. There is literature out there suggesting that taking Provera during pg is harmful. See, e.g., http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/pro1361.htm What I would do is get a blood test (measuring beta HcG) to find out if you are pg. If you're not, you can take Provera to induce AF (or just wait for it to come, which it will do if you ovulated and are not pg). I don't mean to alarm you with that link about Provera, but I just want to make sure you're ok! Good luck and let us know how you're doing+++++++++ Maura p.s. Welcome,
I have PCOS as well. I have taken provera during all three of my pregnancies. I miscarried on two pregnancies and have a four year old. I did not know of the risks. I would wait until cd 35 and then have a quanitative hcg done. Plus I would wait for period naturally if you did ovulate because the less hormones we can put in our bodies the better. I am taking 1500 mg of metformin and 150 mg of clomid. I did an OPK yesterday and it was positive. I will have my progesterone tested in 6 days. Good luck! Megan |

Thanks for getting back to me. Today I just started cramping so I'm a bit worried. The Dr wants me to take the provera even though I ovulated, which to me seems odd because if I ovulated I'm either pregnant or I'll get my period right? I only have one more pill to take and when I wasn't ovulating my period started 3 days after the last pill. So I guess we will see one way or another soon.

Hi there: Maybe you could skip the last pill? I would at a minimum call your doctor and ask about the risks associated with Provera in pg. I would also ask why you would need to take it at all since, as you point out, if you ovulated you will get AF on your own.
Good luck and let us know how things turn out+++++++++++++ Maura |
