Hi and welcome!

Gynecological ultrasounds can be done externally and internally. If done externally, it's completely pain-free. The technician will put a gel on the transducer (and/or your abdomen) and move it around to get a look at your uterus and tubes. If done internally, the transducer is inserted into the vagina... that can be uncomfortable! But if you relax, it's really not painful.

I assume you'll be having an external u/s since you are in the middle of your period.

As for your second question, I don't know the answer, but your doctor will be able to tell you. Don't be afraid to ask any questions and don't feel bad about missing the class! Your doctor's job is to give you information (and not a lecture).

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow and let us know how it goes!

Hello*!!!! I am going to say that I assume they will do an internal u/s to check for left over cysts that can cause the clomid to mess with your cycle. That is how I always had mine done (in the past) I would go in on cd-2-4 they would do an internal....to me they are not that bad, but can be a little embarassing because you are still bleeding, but then I get over that thinking these techs have seen just about everything anyways.

As for the shot I am not sure if they plan on bringing you in for another u/s....if so they typically do that around cd=12.....if the follicles look to be growing good you might trigger as soon as cd=14...they might have you take Ovulation Kits to check for surge on your own..if they do that then if you don't surge by say cd=16 they might have you come in for another u/s to check on everything then trigger you.

I would be sure to ask what they want you to do for the rest of the cycle that way you are not in the dark....Good luck*!!!!

BTW welcome to FT*!!!!!!

Most likely, I think the u/s will be done vaginally. It's not painful, but sometimes uncomfortable if they have to probe around too much...but it really isn't anything to worry over.

What shot are you taking? I did the trigger shot for the first time this cycle. I dind't have to take a class. I did see the nurse for instructions but it was soooo simple!!

They will most likely instruct you as to when you need to the shot but if it's the same as I had, I had several u/s close to the time you are *supposed* to O and when they see enough big follicles, they will tell you when to trigger. Do you know when you typically O? I would say sometime between cd15-20 for most, but it can really vary...

They'll help ya through it and should tell you when to do everything.

Good luck!!
