BMS Timing after Trigger -- HELP!
OK girls, I need your help. I triggered Sunday night at 8:00 pm. The dr. office said to BMS 24 hours later(Monday night at 8 pm), then 12 hours after that(Tuesday morning 8 am). The 24 hour job is do-able, but my DH has to leave 10 hours later(6 am), so, my question is... which would you do, BMS at 5:30 am (2.5 hours early)or travel to another town and BMS at 9:30 am(1 hour late)? Which would you do and why? I had good follicle growth this time, a good lining, we do not have male factor, so I feel like if we can get the timing right, it just might work.
My biggest fear is that if it doesn't work, I'm going to beat myself up for making the wrong decision about the timing.

My understanding is that you normally ovulate approximately 36 hours after the trigger, but the egg only stays viable for about 18 hours after O, (compared to sperm that can live for 3-5 days, maybe longer). So any BMS within 48 hours of the trigger should be able to do the job.
So, I don't think it would make much of a difference if you BMS a couple of hours earlier than 36 or a couple of hours later than 36. You didn't go into any details re: where DH was going to be, but I would guess that it might not be the most amenable situation for BMS -- and face it, this timed-sex is stressful enough without trying to do it in an awkward place!!!!!! I would be more inclined to wake up early and BMS, rather than travel out of town to meet up with DH. And, if possible, I would BMS again on Tuesday night, if DH is going to be back in town, just for good measure! (it might be on the outside window of time, but if you ovulate a little later than 36 hours, or have a really good egg that stays viable a little longer, you could still catch it!) Good luck!

Thanks ladies. I think we'll go with the 5:30 then again when he gets home, just for good measure. I would have to get a hotel room in the town he'll be in. (I've done that before, only it was 4 hours away). I didn't BMS last night when I triggered. They told me to wait 24 hours after trigger. I had a feeling I should have, after reading all the posts here, but I guess "dr. knows best". Funny so many drs. have different time lines. I'm just so nervous because this is our last chance and our IF insurance ends. Thanks again for your words of wisdom. It's nice to have a place to come to where people understand!
