Are there any meds that interfere with the results of OPK's? I only take Met and PNV's but I thought I heard that the Met can make the results not as accurate. Anyone else know anything about this? It is a real long shot anyway, but thought I may try it this month to see.
Any thoughts would be great! Thanks! Katie

katie...the only thing i know of that could interfere with OPK's is triggering with HCG.
i have no personal experience with met, but see if i can find some info for you.

Hi Katie: Clomid can also interfere with OPKs by causing false positives if taken too soon after stopping the Clomid, but I've never heard of Metformin intefering. I will do some diggind and if I find anything I'll let you know!
Good luck++++++++ Maura |

i wasn't able to find anything documented that stated met influenced OPK's one way or the other. i did however read a couple of things on a few message bb's where the woman said she felt she wasn't getting accurate results and she was taking met. both complaints i read were that they actually DID O, but they were never able to get a pos OPK.

Thanks ladies!! I don't usually O on my own so it is a long shot anyway. I have been going to the Chiro and I went off the pills to see if I could at least have a period on my own and it looks like I had a 31 day cycle on my own (usually never shorter than 35 days if at all!) so I thought I would try this month to see if it shows anything. I have had positive results in the past but don't know if I ever O'd after getting the +. Is it possible to get the surge and a + but not O? I have PCOS and IR and no luck after 2 IVF's (it appears my eggs are of poor quality). Is it even worth my time to get my BBT and chart it? I am just waiting on donor embryos and feel like I need to be doing something to pass the time. I just don't know.
If I do decide to chart my temp, what online site is the best for keeping track of it? I see several different ones used by ladies on here. Thanks again for your help!!

katie....yes, with PCOS it;s very possible to get a pos and not O. women with PCOS have elevated levels of LH throughout the cycle. therefore there's no way of knowing if your pos OPK is due to the PCOS or b/c you're really O'ing. many women don't even bother with them. on the flip side, i've heard many women with PCOS say they've never had any problems with OPK's. i guess the only way to know for absolute certain would be to have a progest test after O'ing to verify it.
i would definitely give temping a try. you just never know what could happen while you're waitng on your DE. www.fertilityfriend.com seems to be everyone's fav. good luck! and let us know if you need help with the temping.

I guess I blow the dust off of the 'ol thermometer and see what happens. If I remember correctly, you are suppose to take the temp before you get out of bed in the morning, right? I set up a account on fertility friend so that will help, when I did it before, I just wrote it all down and wasn't ever sure of what I was looking at. Today is day one, but tomorrow will be the first day of temp taking. Still not sure if I will do the OPK's though, I don't think I get accurate results based on the past uses. I think I will make sure to do all the things I have been doing over the past month like my weekly chiro appt and try to drink more water (not too good at that one regularly). What are you thoughts on L-Arginine?? Guess none of this can hurt, right?

yes, your temp should be taken each morning before getting out of bed.
fertility friend just needs you to input the info each day and they creat the gragh. i also was using a hand written chart when i first started temping, then i discovered the software and was thrilled. the more info you put in, the more accurate the feedback will be. also, take a look at this link. it's to our sticky thread at the top of our bb. there's a section titled "BBT- Getting started." give it a read and see if you have any other questions that we can help you with. http://www3.fertilethoughts.com/foru...d.php?t=269425

Hi Katie: Dina has already given you the lowdown on temping, etc. so I''ll just jump in to say that you can use any old thermometer... old-fashioned glass/mercury or digital... it doesn't have to say "basal" on it ... I used a regular digital and never had any trouble
.Good luck and keep us posted+++++++++ Maura |
