Late ovulation with hCG?

I am currently on 1500mg of Metformin, 100mg Clomid, and took my hCG shot on day 14. I had an IUI on Day 16, 36 hours after hCG shot. My question is...I feel as if I ovulated yesterday (day 18, cramping, nausea) and I'm wondering if it is possible to ovulate 72 hours after hCG as opposed to the typical 36 hours?

Hi there: It is possible to O later than the shot, but your cramping and nausea could also be post-O symptoms. Were you monitored this cyle by u/s? In the absence of any other information (like u/s or temping), there's no reason to assume you didn't O around the time of your IUI and that's how I'd try to look at it if you can!

Good luck and keep us posted++++++++

Thanks for the replies! I really appreciate it! Yes, I was monitored with an ultrasound before I was triggered. I only had one mature follicle. What causes the post-ovulation cramping and nausea? I usually get very nauseous before I get my period, so I thought this might happen before ovulation as well due to hormonal changes. Thanks again for the replies - it's so nice to get such quick answers to my questions!

Hi there: The cramping can be from the corpus luteum leftover after ovulation and the nausea can be from the surge of progesterone after O.

Since you were monitored, I'm even more inclined to think that you ovulated according to plan. In the future, would they give you another u/s to make sure you did?

But let's hope your future includes a BFP that removes any need for another IUI!

Good luck and let us know how things turn out+++++++
