Question about Progesterone Level?

I had a checkup today with my dr, and I asked her to do a beta. lol She said I am only 11dpo, that if I get a + HPT, or AF doesn't arrive in a week, to call her & she'd order it. She did have me go for a progesterone check - this will be my first one. What is a normal level?

I'm excited, though - as I will be scheduling my HSG as soon as AF arrives! I'm already a nervous wreck! After 8 months, I will get to see if my reversal surgery really reconnected my tubes or not!

Hello*!!! well you are not at your peek progesterone area...(that is normally 7dpo), but I would still say it should be in this range in the range of 5 to show that you did indeed O and 10 for early pg....

My lab slips that I just got back says this:

follicular stage: 0.2-1.5
ovulatory stage: 0.8-3.0
luteal stage : 1.7-27.0 (where you are)

Mine came back at 7.6 and my GYN was pleased that it did show that I did O. I hope that helps*!!! (but remember that some labs measure at different levels)

Hi Kim! In pg, there is a range of what doctors want to see for progesterone. My OB liked over 10, but one of her partners liked over 15 and the other liked over 20. As far as establishing that O has occurred, anything over 5 is usually indicative of ovulation.

GOOD LUCK and may you not need that HSG after all! Keep us posted!

I had a 7. something and the nurse pretty much wrote that ovulation off as a dud (which it was) Not really sure what number they are looking for but definitely over 7....

Good Luck!

I've been testing every day. lol BFNs, of'course. I am not very hopeful...but I'm so glad I have my HSG to look forward to. I'm nervous, though..because then I'll find out definitely if all the trouble was worth it! (reversal surgery)

Thanks for the info & good wishes! I sincerely appreciate you guys taking the time to help me. Anything that makes the time go by quicker!

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum. A little info about myself. I am 32 years old and currently on my 2nd IUI.

During my first IUI, I was on 50mg clomid, HCG injection to trigger ovulation and IUI 30 hours later. My period came after 16 days post IUI.

My second IUI, i was on injectables, HCG injection to trigger ovulation and IUI 30 hours later. This time my gynae decided to take a progesterone blood test at day 7 post IUI and it reads
1) Progesterone level - 53.4 ng/ml
2) Estradiol (E2) level - 3.14 ng/ml

The nurse gave me the readings and said it is normal but I have been doing some research in the internet and I found out average progesterone level is about 20 at 4 weeks LMP and mine at 53.4 which is way too high (i think). I have been trying in vain to get hold of my gynae!! I really need some answers to my readings. Can someone pllllease help!!!!

Thanks alot!!

You progesterone can never be too high during the luteal phase, only too low. Are you taking progesterone supplements? If so, that might explain the high level. You might be pg, but a progesterone level alone can't determine whether you are pg or not. In any event, you numbers sound good to me!
