I am new to all this and am not really sure if I should be expecting pos tests yet as 11 days post insems doesn't agree with 4 days before period lolIf I start with the day after last insems (I am a surrogate) I am on day 11, but if I assume my next period in 25th Dec I am still testing a few days early.......I am going quietly insane over here in England TIA for your help. 25th Nov The 1st day of a light 5 day period 5th Dec Pos OPK 6th Dec Feint OPK 7th Dec Early morning insem 8th Dec Insem 13th Dec (ish) Boobs started hurting 16th Dec BFN 17th Dec BFN Started to get slight heartburn in the evenings 18th Dec BFN 19th Dec BFN Because I haven't really been monitoring my cycle I don't know when to expect my next period, I was thinking Chrismas Day as it's the next 25th but is there a fixed amount of days after you O that you can expect to start?

welcome to the boards!!
here's my non-expert opinion.....some of the other girls have lots more experience, and i'm sure they'll be able to give you some insight! according to what you wrote, i'd think that you probably ovulated on the 7/8 of dec - usually the luteal phase of your cycle (from when you ovulate to when you get your period) is 12-14 days. so that would put you at/around the 21-22 to be due for your period. but testing this early isn't always accurate! you can have a late implanter, and get a + HPT later on in the game! i hope this works for you and the family you'll be carrying for! that's a great thing!! good luck!! (and girls, if i was wrong in my math, correct me, please!)

hi newhere...
based on your OPK's alone (because i'm assuming you're not temping) i think you could've O'd anywhere between the 5th and the 7th. did you do any OPK's at all prior to the 5th? it's not really possible to know if you caught the beginning or the end of your surge if you have no prior tests to the 5th. that said, if we take the 7th as O day (using this b/c it was the first day of IUI,) that would put you at 12 dpo today. you start counting 1 dpo as the day after you O. normal LP's are between 12-16 dpo. i would take your usual LP length and test at the end of that period. if you usually have a 14 day LP, then i would test on thursday or friday. keep in mind what sarah said....late implantation can always account for a false neg test. i've experienced that myself, even when AF was late. best of luck! let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the info ladies, unfortunately I just went to the loo and had very slightly pink tp which makes me think AF is coming
This seems strange as it's only 24 days since last time. If she is on her way when would you start doing opk's and how difficult is it to do the temp charts I see everyone doing?? |

pink spotting doesn't always mean AF. it's not an AF until you start to see real red flow. i spotted during 2 pgs with what i thought was AF on the way.
if it does turn out to be AF, the important thing is the length of the LP, not the entire length of time from AF to AF. as long as your LP is at least 12 days long, you're ok. the online charting is very simple. set yourself up at fertilityfriend.com and it's just a matter of inputting info. of course it won't take your temp for you LOL, you have to do that yourself. tracking CM and inputting info as well as inputting OPK info will all help the program with accuracy. it's definitely a usefull tool in TTC.let us know if you need any help along the way.

Hi there! I agree with what the others have said
. I think it's too early for an HPT to be reliable if you O'd on 12/7.In general when trying to decide when AF is due, the best way to proceed is to figure out when you ovulated and count out your luteal phase (as Dina said, 12-16 days is usualy LP, so AF would come 13-17 days after your O date since you don't count the day you O or the day you get AF when determining your LP). Just because you got AF on 11/25 doesn't mean that you will get it on 12/25 because O dates can vary a lot (but LPs don't usually change by more than a day or so... if your LP is 13 days, it will almost always be 12-14 days long). I hope that spotting is implantation spotting! Good luck and keep us posted ++++++Maura |
