when to use OPK

hey girls!

sorry i've been MIA for a while....we bought a new house Oct 11, and we gutted our kitchen before moving in. we finally got the electrical done, the walls & ceiling sheetrocked, and just tonight finished sanding the sheetrock. it's a TON of work, and i'm usually too beat to get online!

so, i hope everyone is doing well! any new updates on some BFPs?? i hope so! leslie, i've been thinking of you! hope that bean is growing strong & fast!

i'm on cd10 today, and i'm about to start obsessing with the OPKs......in the past, i've tested with FMU, but i know that's not always best. so my question is, what is the best time to use an OPK? and does your urine have to be undiluted? i think i read somewhere that the best time is noonish, but how do you not drink anything all morning? i'm sucking down water all day long usually!

TIA for the advice, and i hope to be able to catch up with y'all soon! but for now, i have to go shower and wash the sheetrock dust out of my hair/eyes/ears/nose!

sarah

hi sarah....CONGRATS on the new house!!

the experts recommend doing OPK's in the afternoon between 12-4. this is because most women tend to surge in the morning, making the hormone detectable in the afternoon. there's a higher liklihood you could not catch your surge until the following morning if you test in the morning and in fact started surging that day.

i don't think it's realistic to not drink at all. plus you don't actually want to use FMU. if the surge begins in the morning, there isn't enough hormonal build up in the FMU to trigger the test. i thoink the recommendation is to not urinate for a certain amount of time before testing, but i was never able to follow that because i'm a big water drinker. i never had a problem picking up my surge tho.

HTH, and good luck!

I believe.... I would go to the bathroom to give about 2 hours before I would test. I would try to not over drink water durring that time.

That started to not work with my schedule not working, so I did use the first morning. It was usually the same time of day and just kept record of it, for if the next month the time changed for the test. I guess I was trying to not stress about testing at the same time...lol

Best Wishes!

Hey Sarah, I was going to post to you to find out how the house was coming along and so I was glad to see this post! Isn't it so exhausting? Dh and I gutted our kitchen when we moved in here 8 years ago and materials are so heavy, both coming and down and going back up! And the dust... and the dust... and the dust, dust, dust, dust (to spoof on Dr. Seuss!)! We were coughing it out for weeks afterward!

Anyway, I can't add anything to what Dina has said about OPKs, but just wanted to say GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!

ok, so OPK around lunch time....hmm....that may be hard, but i'll give it a try! worst comes to worst, i'll OPK twice a day, and just throw $$ out the window in hopes of catching that **** O!
