I'm Baaaccckkkk
Well hello out there. I'm sure very few, if any, of you know who I am. A few years ago I ttc....unsuccessfully. I was on here as kimkaye182000 or kimkaye (I don't remember which). To bring yall up to speed...I'll do a quick rundown.
I got married at 19, and started ttc shortly after. Month after month...nothing. Soon my periods became few and far between. I had gone 6 months between periods at one point in time. DH was in the military, and the base we were stationed at didn't have a very good IF treatment facility. Infact, the obgyn I had suggested I just keep trying. Even though I had been actively trying for 13 months. We decided to give up. Which was a very good decision in retrospect. He got deployed to Iraq, came home..got out of the military. Then we were both unemployed, living at my fathers house. We are now established, we have great paying jobs and a wonderful house. I work as a dog groomer, full time. DH works as a security guard, and goes to college both full time. About a year ago we started ttc again, with no prevail. I just had my pap done today, and mentioned all of this to her. She talked to me for a very long time, I think I was in there for a good 2 hours. She decided to order this test (I don't know how to spell it) where I get dye shot into my uterus to see if my tubes aren't blocked. DH has to drop off a "specimen" within the next couple of weeks to make sure we don't have a male factor. If everything turns out okay on his end, and on my tubes end...then next cycle I start 50 mg clomid! I am currently on cd7 and am going to start charting tomorrow! whew, okay that wasn't quick.

Hi Kimkaye and welcome back
! I remember you very well and the whole military base medical lab runaround! I'm glad your dh made it back safely from Iraq and I'm glad to hear you're both doing so well. That test your doctor mentioned is a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) and it's a very good test to have where infertility is "unexplained." In fact, it's the test that tipped my RE off to the fact that I had a uterine septum. I hope dh's sperm analysis comes back fine and your HSG comes back fine (or if it doesn't, it's something easily fixed) and you can be on your way. Good luck and keep us posted++++++++++++++ Maura |

Okay, so I have to ask...not that it will affect my decision, but does the HSG hurt? She didn't really go into details as to what exactly happens. Is this something I should do on my day off, or would I be able to return to work?
..and the nerves set in. |

Kimkaye - welcome back! I hope your stay is short!
![]() The HSG hurting thing is different for everyone! A friend of mine had hers done and she said she barely felt it and went back to work! Some women say it's the most painful thing ever... Mine was pretty painful. When he put the clamp thingy on my cervix I felt that! Then during the procedure it was more discomfort than pain. My worst pain came afterwards once I stood up - like super bad cramps... I couldn't go back to work afterwards - DH drove me home and I went to bed (following 2 vicodin). Mine was at 1:30 though - I just took the afternoon off from work. Don't freak yourself out about it though - you'll be fine! It's not comfortable, and it's not fun either! But it's pretty quick at least! It lasted about 10 minutes once the doctor got there and did his stuff! Take your pain pills before the procedure / some doctors prescribe a muscle relaxer (not all, but some do)... mine didn't. I was okay though. I was a little tender afterwards the next day but pretty much back to my normal gripey self! ![]() Good luck with yours!! You'll be fine! ![]() Just take it slow standing up, have someone drive you if you think you'll have a tough time... it's just easier to have someone with you too. And again - know that it's fast and over soon! PS! See if you can get your own copy of your xrays afterwards! I've learned that I've got to keep track of things myself sometimes! It'll also help to have your own copy if you ever switch doctors! |
