Conflicting OPK results??!?
Okay ladies, I need some advice. What do you believe when you use two different brands of OPK tests and they say different things? I used a First Response ovulation test this morning and I think it was positive. Then this afternoon, just about 7-8 hours later, I try a Clear Blue Easy digital ovulation test, and it's negative. What gives?? I would think the digital one would be more accurate, and yet why would First Response say something else? Anyone have words of wisdom for me? I'm going nuts!

Thanks for the quick reply. Nope, I don't temp... I actually did my first IUI last month but I have to sit out this month due to scheduling problems (DH and I were out of the country until last night and my RE wouldn't do an IUI this month without an ultrasound, etc earlier this week). Anyway, just wondering, since I hate trying to read and interpret these darn OPK things!!

Thanks! I was out of the country for the past 12 days and tried to test while I was there. The last time I tested before this morning was about 30 hours earlier, due to travel constraints. I agree that it's BMS time tonight, and I will test again tomorrow just to be sure.

Thanks. I tend to agree that I caught the end of my surge, because today my OPKs are definitely negative. I think I caught it near the end yesterday morning.
My question is this: if I caught my LH surge early yesterday morning (OPK positive) but it was gone/negative by yesterday late afternoon (OPK negative), then when did ovulation occur? Does one ovulate 24-48 hours after the BEGINNING of the LH surge, or the end, or the middle? Please enlighten me. I'm trying to figure out when I ovulated this month, assuming I did. I'm guessing that I O'd some time today. what do you ladies think?? |

It all depends... I could test at different times and have different results. Some tests are better than others...I would try to use the same test at the same time of day.
Once you see a ++OPK you can O anytime after that...12 hours to about 36ish. The window is there due to a few things... * Some can surge and release at the same time.. * Some have a nice surge and then release in a few days.. When you see that ++OPK you have that window open... then rememeber that it does take time for the sperm to get to the egg and that is why we normally BMS every other day through the temp shift rise and a few days after. Hope I got all that right... I am sure if I missed something or goofed.. I will be corrected!! ![]() Best Wishes!! |

FYI- I had what I thought was a pos. on First Response OPK on CD16, however Clearblue read neg. I kept testing, w/ clearblue and finally got a surge on CD23. I really don't trust First Response, I think their neg. kinda look like a pos. and clearblue is well much clearer. If your temps don't rise to confirm O, I'd keep BMS"ing and testing w/ clearblue.

HI there: What cd are you? With two conflicting OPKs, I would keep OPKing to see if you get a clear ++ (you said that you thought that the First Response was positive... was it ambiguous?) ...
And if you don't want to keep OPKing, then regular BMS will accomplish the same thing ...especially on any day that you see good cm!Best of luck and keep us posted+++++++++ Maura |
