Hello All (copied from Welcome Thread)

Hello all
Hi. I've been a silent viewer of the different forums on fertile thoughts and reading people's experiences that are similar to mine has made this journey less painful.
About myself:
My DH and I are 33. We live in Montgomery county, MD. We've been ttc for over a year without any luck. His SA was fine and my tests- hormone levels, sonograms and HSG were all fine. AF comes without fail every 26 days (I'm expecting her tomorrow for some cycle buddies) and I'm pretty sure that I'm o'ing regularly- based on OPK's and now the CBFM that I got recently. We are categorized as unexplained infertility . Tried one cycle of clomid, then Clomid/Follistim/IUI with BFN .
The aunt and uncle forum helped me transform the envy I had for my 2 SIL's into love that I lavish on my nieces and nephews .

I fear that my BFP will never come and the unknown is so scary. Also, the constant advise of 'it will come when you least expect' makes me think about it all the time. I am now working formally with an RE at SGFRSC and we will hopefully start Clomid/injectibles and IUI again. I'll keep you updated during my 2ww. Baby dust and lots of BFP to everyone.

Cherechi

By the way, maybe you can help me with this. For the past 5 yrs, on CD 18-20- get ready for TMI- , I have had this voluminous discharge that 2 panty liners are'nt enough for. Sometimes it has a few strands that are pinkish. I thought it was implantation but I had the discharge even when I wasn't ttc. My RE had me do a couple of sonograms which showed a possible fluid filled tube near the R ovary but when I did an MRI of the area, it disappeared There was a suggestion of a laparoscopy b4 but now my RE doesn't want it anymore. Has anyone experienced this?

Welcome Cherechi!

Have you ever tried temping? It would be one more piece of information to have about your cycle. It could confirm when O is happening to make sure that your luteal phase is long enough to allow for implantation. The first thing that I wondered about when I read about your discharge on cds 18-20 was whether you were actually ovulating at that time, rather than earlier. If so, and you get AF on cd 26 (or 27?), then your LP would NOT be long enough.

What cd do you usually detect your LH surge? Temping would help you see whether your surge is actually followed by O or whether you're surging early, not ovulating, and then having another surge later on. If this is happening, then you could be off with your BMS timing (and as I said above, your LP wouldn't be long enough to allow for implantation).

What did your doctor see when she/he did the u/s? What cd did you do them?

Good luck and let us know if you want help starting temping.

Temping

Thanks Maura.
That's a great idea. I am going to start temping again. I did it only once before. Do you know where I can print out free charts?
I've always been nervous that I either wasn't o'ing after my surge or that my LP was too short for implantation.
I usually see a surge on CD 13 or 14 and then AF on CD26/27. My RE could not give me a direct answer about whether an LP of 11-12 days was long enough. He said that my lab work and day 3 sono looked good.

The U/S that showed the fluid filled tube near the R ovary was done on day 17 and 21 and then it disappeared on a MRI and a repeat CD3 u/s. go figure

As I write this e-mail, AF has just sent her first sign with a little cramping. I really thought this would be the cycle. I was sooo relaxed and I traveled to visit friends during this 2ww so my mind was at ease. Now, I'm hoping for a 'trick or treat' conception.

Lots of BFP's to everyone,
Cherechi

Hi Cherechi:

I think http://www.fertilityfriend.com has a free trial period for online charting. If not, I'll find you some charts to print out.

That's strange about the fluid-filled tube near your ovary... could it have been the corpus luteum left over after O? What did your doctor think it was?

I hope AF stays away....

Let me know about fertilityfriend and good luck!

hi cherechi....welcome

my initial though was also ewcm that you're experiencing.

if you're detecting your surge on cd 13-15, you should be O'ing sooner than cd 18-20. when have you begun BMS/IUI relative to the surge? i wonder if this isn't as simple as poor timing?

re: your LP...it should be between 12-16 days long. 1 dpo is considered the day after you O. a LP of 11 days would be bordering problematic as if you happen to be a late implanter, your lining could be shedding before the pg has had a chance to implant.

i think it's pretty normal for everyone to have a short LP once in a blue moon, but if it's a regular thing, it can definitely contribute to IF issues.

i think temping would be a great thing. it would also help us help you!

Thanks everyone for your advice and warm welcomes. I feel empowered with all your tips. I will begin temping once AF arrives and I will ask my RE if I could do a CD 21 progesterone level. I'll sign up with fertility friend so that I can post my temp charts for your thoughts.
My RE sent me an e-mail saying that he wants to repeat a CD 17-19 sono during the dicharge/CM thing to see what's happening again. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Cherechi: Just wanted to make sure that your doctor does a "7 dpo" progesterone test and not a "cd 21" one.... cd 21 is fine if you O on cd 14, but not if you O on cd 20! The test ideally should be done 7 days past ovulation, so once you see your ovulatory rise, schedule it for the 7th day of higher temps.

Good luck and I hope you'll keep in touch+++++++++++
