OK, so this is odd.....
So, every month since I started taking my 100mg clomid (this makes month 6) I have surged, ovulated and had the exact same size follicles on the exact same days..(CD16 for me with a 31-32 day cycle)...except for this month.
This month I measured out at 21 and 22 on CD13..a full three days ahead of where I am usually. So I started trying to think why this had changed and the only thing I changed this month was the time of day that I take my clomid. I've always taken it in the morning with my other am meds because it's easier for me to remember it then. This month, however, the pharmacy hadn't gotten it in that morning so I ended up taking it every night CD3-7. I have absolutely racked my brain trying to determine exactly how the time of day that you take medication could have THAT much effect. And the only thing I can come up with is that by taking it at night, I allowed for longer absorption and distribution within my body, therefore aloowing it to work more effectively. Either way, I screwed myself out of good IUI month..LOL (although I did go ahead and have an IUI with 24 and 26 follicles today...we'll see what happens, I surged and triggered yesterday anyways) I just wondered if anyone had experienced a better or worse functioning of medications when taken at varying times of the day, and if so, what their physician or pharmacist had to say about it.

I read somewhere -i can't recall where that clomid is most effective taken in the evening. I've taken it in the evening both times -because the first time I was like you and I had to pick it up still.
ETA -here it is -although they say it's not crucial. https://www.stronghealth.com/service...phenetreat.cfm

I don't know, I took my injectables later in the day this month than I did the previous month, but they also messed with my dose - and it's taking a super long time this time around for the follicles to grow. It's mysterious. I won't IUI until day 16 or 17.
Keep us updated on how things go for you, Kelcey - missed keeping in touch with you this time around. |

I wonder why though....is it because of increased absorption, etc?? or is it that our bodies simply process meds better while we're sleeping?? either way, I'd love to know that although this month's cycle was a bust (hopefully not but probably) that next month's cycle will be a little more productive. thunderbird, don't sweat it..I've been so absent this last week, I'm surprised that anyone knows whats up with me...12-14 hours a day at the Fire Department Fair Booth will do that to ya...what a week!! I'm just glad that after my IUI I was able to spend the rest of the day with my arse parked in an office chair, not doing much of anything...and although my job is super pi$$ed at me right now for blowing off training to do my iui, they can shove it..lol at least I'm doing something proactive about my fertility which at least helps me to sleep at night.

I work in a pharmacy and I have researched clomid many times.... The reason why most Drs state to take it at night was to help with the side affects. Clomid can make you dizzy, sleepy, and have night sweats. It is like the reason most take birthcontrol pills at night... so if you have any of the symptoms you may sleep through them.
Hope that helps!

twiggy...you rock..LOL
LOL...I did POAS...but before my IUI...and just to make sure my trigger was actually in my bloodstream and working...I have promised myself that I won't POAS this time until 14dpiui. Of course, we'll see what happens..I have absolutely NO impulse control and I have a large supply of HPT's (at work and at home ) I scored EPT 2 packs from wal-mart on clearance (no they're not expired..just being phased out at this wal-mart because they're the digital readouts) for only $3.00 a box, so I bought quite a few. A bad thing for people like me to have in my possession. So, yes, I suppose the betting windows are open..LOL
